Thats why you have to PM me to sign up, or just to check it out. They arent officially starting their marketing campain until november, thats why the website says its not for sale yet, but you can still order through the sales channel. I can also demo the speeds for you so you can test it out for yourself

if you meant sprint, unlimited data with no voice plan is $80/month

how well does this work for a mobile application?

Ok, in order of how they were asked:

This runs off of an infrastructure called WiMax, it broadcasts at a 2.5 ghz frequency.

The guaranteed data rates are 1.5 mbs down and 256 kbps up

There are two price points. For half speed its 29.99 and for full speed its 37.99. Right now for signing up early you get the first two months of either for free.

Nextel has stopped selling their service and it was not at broadband speed, it was barrelly at ISDN speeds.

Sprint still isnt getting the same speeds as us and they are a lot more expensive.

There is minimal packet loss experienced because there is a soft handover from tower to tower.

TEST DRIVE IT FOR FREE AND BE THE JUDGE OF IT FOR YOURSELF.

i heard about WiMax a long time ago (i even made a thread about it)...never heard much after that (the article was referring to was talking about the development of WiMax as a service provided through a small tax increase by the local governments of cities - essentially high-speed internet, accessible even in podunk (wherever you get a cell signal) for a tiny tax hike of about $10/year

i thought it was cool and was disappointed when i heard nothing else

but now i have, so i'm happy again

^ EV-DO is by far the best high-speed cellular service technology available utilizing cell phones...but the plans are ridiculously expensive, as is the extra equipment you'd have to buy

Yes you can use the same modem in any market accross the country. Currently there are 31 markets, by the end of next year, more than double that. THere are 4 or 5 new markets opening in north carolina next year.

Yes, you can roam with it on any clearwire tower nationwide without notifying clearwire and without any penalties. However, because Clearwire is the only company currently using this standard, there is no other competition to roam off of.

I havent used it yet but it looks interesting. Service is over 2.5GHz licensed spectrum. You can see their cell sites if you know what you are looking for - sector antennas about 4ft tall, usually 2 sometimes 1 small round microwave dish. there is one behind/near priscillas on western blvd, so coverage should be good for that side of campus

i'm currently using it...it was a little sketchy at first because they hadn't gotten the nearest antenna up at that point...within a month it was up and i've had 100% signal ever since...it hasn't gone out on me yet, i get solid throughput...honestly, i have no complaints at this point, it's been awesome
