Nope, because when the Falcons Colts lose, it's never because of Vick Manning.

i know what the thread is about, it's about Vick being a "Golden God" which i'm pretty sure he has never proven to be true... the primary position of the QB is to lead the team and distribute/pass the ball to his teammates... if he can run then that is good too... well Vick has only proven to be good at one of the two, and unfortunately, it's the least important of the 3

ok, look up "Golden God" in there and see if it has Vick's picture next to it.... and if you're actually trying to argue that passing isnt an impotant job of a QB, well you're dumber then shit!

^If Vick had 0 passing yards every game, then you would have an argument. You act like he doesn't pass tha ball any during a game.

he passes, but he sucks at it... and to be a good QB he should be at least decent at passing.... how many successful QB's can you point out in the past who have sucked at passing??

There has never been a QB in the league like Vick before.

He can afford to be below average at passing because he makes up for it in other ways.

Kevin Greene SUCKED at tackling and he won NFL Defensive MVP in '96.

You don't have to be great at every element of the game to be good.

Peyton Manning is a BAD rushing QB, but he's still the best QB in the game.

Shaun Alexander is not a good passing RB, but he's still an elite RB.

Jerry Rice was never a good tackling WR, but he's still clearly the best WR ever.

you guys are making this argument like being able to pass is the least important thing a QB should do, and that is not the case!

is TACKLING the least important element of being a linebacker?????????????????/

I would say its the most important element.

And KEvin Greene was awful at it. He wasnt below average, he was awful. And yet he won NFL Defensive MVP!

I mean jesus what more can i say. He got defensive MVP and he sucked at tackling.

Why? Because he was such a ferocious pass rusher that it offset the fact that he couldnt tackle ANYONE.

I mean seriously how do you get 14.5 sacks in a season and only record 40 tackles. Nearly half of his freaking tackles were sacks...

Who cares if half of Vick's yards are rushing?

And btw, Crumpler had another three drops today... QB's dont catch their own passes...

this thread isn't about linebackers...totally different position then QB and not comparable... if Vick wins more then 8-9 games this year and takes his team deep into the playoffs you will BEGIN to have an argument, until then, you don't have a leg to stand on!

Dave, you have still yet to do this for me...

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/quarterback

Show me where it says ANYTHING about passing.

^Oh, so taking his teams, who were by far worse than his current one, into Green Bay ,and winning, and going to the NFC championship isn't enough for you?

And yes I know those were seperate years.

point is, that defination doesnt say shit other then the obvious... "a back in football who usually lines up immediately behind the center and directs the offense of the team."... that defination doesnt make any kind of argument one way or the other

Vick isn't horrible...he just isn't close to being as good as rally and dicktuck are saying he is.

He's crazy athletic and creates matchup problems...but when a decent defensive team puts together a gameplan to beat him, he can be stopped pretty easily. BECAUSE HE CAN'T PASS THE BALL. Once you contain him in the run, he's screwed. It's a lot easier to contain one mobile QB who is a below-average passer than 4-6 WRs and a guy who can get the ball to them.

Vick will never be a great NFL QB and I doubt he'll ever lead his team to a Super Bowl. When he gets to the playoffs and goes against great defense, he'll be screwed.

well he's not going to win a Super Bowl on the shitty ass team he's on now.

But if you put a guy like Drew Bledsoe at QB for Atlanta they'd go 4-12.

With Vick they go 10-6.... or even 13-3 one year i believe

He can take a bad team and make them good.

It remains to be seen if he could make a good team great. I have no idea, he's never played on a good team.

All i know is that his records and accomplishments so early in his career speaks for itself

well since the Panthers were/are favorites to go to the Super Bowl, I would say they are pretty decent and he has been owning them for years, so they should be used to him by now, and they couldn't even stop him. And Vick has gone to the playoffs, and he has gotten far. Until Peyton makes a SB, don't even argue about going there. Vick has gotten as deep as Peyton and as many times in a shorter amount of time. What else do you want?

He's less effective at the pass than at the run.

That's the exact opposite of every other starting QB in the NFL.

Vick is good at moving around and running around and handing off. If that's all the Falcons needed from him (ie, they were running the '95 Nebraska offense) then that would justify his being considered a "great" quarterback.

However, that is averaged out by his marginal passing skills. Like I've explained before, when he goes against the best of the best in the playoffs he's gonna need to have more in his arsenal than just an ability to run around.

the numbers are in, and counting every game which Vick has played since '01 his record is exactly 34-26, and 1-1 in the playoffs... and exactly as I suspected, he is indeed not a "Golden God", but rather a "Sterling Silver God" afterall... I thank you!

ill readily admit i exaggerate how good he is.

But thats because people say he's a bad QB.

When he's clearly a top 10 QB and id still rank him as a top 5 QB.

The guy is a damn fine QB and he's exciting to watch... its just funny to watch people hate on one of the most revolutionary athletes ever.

yeah don't worry, there are at least 5 or 6 teams in the NFL who would love to get an overpaid QB on their team to up their winning total from 3 to 8

"Hey...if I keep throwing the Panthers name out there, it will be like Vick beats every good team he ever plays. You know like when NC State beat all of the NCAA basketball champions three years in a row...I mean they were practically the best team in college basketball 4 years running. That would be similar to the logic I use in all Sports Talk threads....which would be the fact that I'm a fucking idiot and use no logic. But my friend's daddy could buy Tiger Woods..."

The reason ppl hate him is because people try to make him out to be better than he is... "Golden God". he is a decent QB but I would not but him in the top 5. You can't make the argument that someone is a great QB while at the sametime saying they have below average passing skills.

Also hes not that revolutionary, hes not the first running QB and he wont be the last.

I really hope you didnt count the games in '01 whne they used him for running plays.

His first year as a starter was '02

When he doesnt start they are like 2-10 and when he does they are well over .500

he's won a road playoff game AT LAMBEAU

He's made an NFC Championship

He's posted a 13-3 regular season.

I mean seriously the guy has credentials, talent, skills, etc you can not argue that.

I don't think most level-headed people are.

But they can argue just how good he really is.

Like slighty above-to above average QB. That's what I get when I combine amazing mobility with below average passing skills.

any team playing w/out their starting QB has a much worse record.... and I'm not arguing he doesn't have skills, just that he isn't a "Golden God" and the stats I provided prove that, a "Golden God" would be much higher above .500 and have more then 1 playoff win! The stats prove his mediocrity at winning games!
