I'm from Marietta.

World of Coke!

I'm just kidding, but it seems like that's where all out-of-town visitors are taken.

the new Aquarium is pretty nice

there's also lots of really nice restaurants in the buckhead/midtown area.

^ I second the aquarium. I didn't think about that. The jellyfish room is really cool.

It's probably not still like this, but last year you had to buy your tickets a few days in advance because they sold out.

stone mountain laser show - did you think you might be better off asking people that currently live in ATL - i know this might be hard b/c you have to talk to people in real life

When I've taken my boyfriend down we've done the aquarium - absolutely awesome, but order tickets in advance online! Also Stone Mountain is fun and doesn't have to be expensive. You can take a picnic and just wander the authetic village thing that's there. There's craftsman and all to watch work, it's really fun and kind of romanticy. There's also a wildlife place that's open during certain seasons. Maybe ice skating? We usually go shopping underground, but in the last few years it's sucked...

please god tell me you were kidding about the laser show - that shit is the most redneck-retarded shit I have ever seen in my life...it's no fucking wonder the south has such a bad rep with shitastic crap like that being considered entertainment

see if there is a show at the Fox Theatre (http://www.foxtheatre.org) - it's a great place and they have some great stuff showing there...the atlanta symphony is also very good

thrashers games are fun and pretty damn cheap (don't think arena football has begun yet, but it's a good time too).

if she's down for a weekend - I enjoy trips up to rome...especially this time of the year as the peak leaf season is hitting

i highly reccommend a show at the fox theatre. it doesn't really matter what it is, the bathrooms are worth the price of admission alone. you can take her to R. Thomas for dinner. other standard answers are little 5 points and/or virginia highlands.

The carter center and the fernbank museum might be interesting too. i haven't been to either yet, but they are on the list of places to visit before i move away from atlanta.

if you are into the outdoors, atlanta is only about 1.5hrs hours from the mountains. fort mountain state park is pretty easy to get to and makes a great day trip. the fort is a mysterious rock wall formation, no one really knows how it got there. there's lots of hiking trails with great views too.

oh yeah - Martinis & IMAX on friday nights (6-10pm on the hour) at Fernbank - that's always fun and usually a good crowd...saw Everest there a month or so ago...there's a film on greece and one on the ocean showing tonight

is she in town this weekend? tons of halloween stuff this weekend - compound has a party, as does park tavern (spiralween - http://www.spiralentertainment.com) sat night

Belgian Beer bar at Brickstore Pub in decatur is really the only reason I head over there now that I live in Inman park

Twisted taco is always a good time on the weekends (jager bombs)
