^they cancelled mid-way through the fleet foxes show a couple of years ago. that was an extreme circumstance though. the venue was basically flooded and PAs were blowing up left and right.

Anyone care to rank cities in North Carolina based on the [quantity of] quality of shows that come through each city?

Asheville, Raleigh, Charlotte, nowhere else matters

I'd disagree based on the fact that the shows I'm interested in that skip the Triangle in favor of Asheville are outnumbered by the ones that do the opposite, but I understand I might be in the minority there.

+1

We should probably break Carrboro out on their own too...

Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Asheville (historically not so much in the last 2-3 years), Durham, Charlotte.

I don't even remember the last time I wanted to go to asheville or charlotte for a show. Maybe Krallice in asheville like in 2010

^This, at least to me. Durham and Asheville would be close in my mind, but maybe because I heard less about Asheville shows due to proximity.

Late, but: Asheville, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham

Asheville gets Moogfest/Mountain Oasis which is a huge leg up for them in my book. Durham and Charlotte are close. If we're including how enjoyable the cities themselves are in the equation, Durham leaps Charlotte.

I don't know who Zomboy is, but Wiki tells me his big single is "Organ Donor."

Does that mean Zomboy is DJ Shadow, or does that mean Zomboy is a big biter?

My brother plays for ZZ Ward. Her songs are kinda generic pop songs imo but live they put on a pretty damn good show. I would definitely drive to lincoln theater to see it :^)

Caught Woods in Philly last night at a pier on the Delaware River. Parquet Courts opened. One of the better shows I've been to in a while and, best of all, it was free.

OK

Ed Schrader's Music Beat was very rad. This was my first time seeing 'em.

i feel like i've seen a lot of haters on here. you people are on crack.

maybe my few years of being involved with Miami's noise scene numbs me to wackiness a bit. though he's not even that wacky.

anyway, damn. good stuff.

In addition, LIB and Red Bull Sound Select collaborated to curate a group of emerging artists on the Sound Select platform, including Wildcat! Wildcat!, Chancellor Warhol, the Kingston Springs, Children of the Night, and Tink. "
