I always use Shawn at Carolina Smoke and Gun in Durham (Southpoint). They are working on a formal store, but he is the best in the area.

Tikka T3 Lite
stainless/synthetic
.270 Win

Looks brand new. Low round count. Comes with a nice 1" DNZ one-piece scope mount that gets a 40mm objective just right. Very accurate deer rifle just in time for gun season. Located in Wilmington. I can meet halfway in Goldsboro this weekend.

$650.

I have an RCBS 2-die set, a Lee collet neck sizer, a lot of brass, few boxes of bullets (not loaded ammo) I can throw in for $100.

Just trying to guage if anyone is interested in a 12ga Reminton 870 Express. It has a realtree type camo stock, everything else is black. The barrel on it is a long hunting barrel, I believe its 24" or 26" from what i recall. Havent broken it out in a while

Its in good condition, just a few minor cosmetic scratches. I was thinking somewhere in the 250-300 range.

lol some folks can't see past bigger numbers. my neighbor had his .30-06 stolen out of his truck. i offered to let him borrow my .270 and he literally laughed. i didn't waste my time trying to educate him. you'd think an eastern NC deer is as tough as a goddamn rhinoceros the way these rickies hunt.

[Edited on February 12, 2015 at 7:39 PM. Reason : hell, 7mm is the standard hunting caliber in europe, but these tards scoff at anything <.30 cal]

my dad hunted with a 30-06 for years, but got more deer with his shotgun or when walking the cutovers with a 30 30 lever gun.

These days he has his 260 or 223 bolt gun to use, and neither of them kick.

I will note than when I hunt with a 30-06, its loaded with hand loads tuned for ~100 yard shooting, and it kicks like a 30 30. I don't have any sight lines over ~125 yards on the areas I have permission to hunt.

All that said, Anyone interested in 1 or 2 Yugo SKS's? good shape, I bought them factory refurbed in the grease, will even throw in a bag of stripper clips if one of the two, or both, sell.

haha, like half a fucking millimeter makes any difference to the deer. Now, bullet weight makes some difference, and at a point, so does caliber...but 165 grains out of a 7mm and 165 grains out of a 7.62mm, driven to the same velocity...I don't see how even the dumbest redneck can't see that those are practically equivalent.

Yet, they don't.

Not to mention that the .30-30 is famously lethal medicine for deer and has been since forfuckingever ago, yet something like a .260 or 7mm-08 is like a fucking death ray compared to a .30-30.

Also, I can't tell you how many people (typically not from the southeast) are absolutely stunned to hear that I have killed deer with a 12-gauge. There have been a few whose minds have been absolutely blown at the idea of that being legal, let alone it actually working (shit yeah it works...done it several times. They went down like they were smited by God, except for one which went down instantly and then thrashed briefly).

Well as long as the bullet stays in the animal you are right.. but if it doesn't deform thats where the difference is made.. both bullets in FMJ would fly right through and one would cause a little more damage...

But... don't hunt with target rounds.

The only gun I've ever used for deer is a 12 gauge (I've always hunted short sight lines).

Feeler: I've got an original type iii m1 carbine. Been thinking about selling. It's in pretty decent shape, but does show its age. I have two magazines for it and a box of what appears to be original rounds. I put about 30 of these through the gun in college because I didnt know any better. Gun did shoot well at that time.

Probably going to want somewhere around 800 for it. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you pictures.

Need more info. Not all M1 carbines are created equal. You could start with what manufacturer is stamped on the heel of the receiver.

Here are some pictures. The number behind the rear sight is 1796524. "U. S . Carbine Cal. 30m" stepped on front of receiver. AAR stamped on stock.

There is a manufacturer name stamped under the rear sight above the serial number. Shine a flashlight up in there and tell us what it says.

The serial number corresponds with the maker Irwin-Pedersen/Saginaw

The maker above the serial number is obscured by the rear sight. Since it has the milled rear sight it covers up most of the words. From what I can make out, I believe it says "Saginaw SG" the barrel was made by Underwood.
