Thought I'd put this one out early. The person I was planning on rooming with changed their plans in rather abrupt fashion, and my present roommate is moving, so I'm looking for another roommate. It's a 2br/2ba apartment at Ivy Commons (just south of campus on avent ferry, right past varsity, we're n the west side of avent ferry). The lease would start around the middle of July (deposit should be ~$100, we negotiated it to that last time). http://www.raleighrental.com/ivy.htmlHere's the floorplan for this apartment: http://www.apnewhomes.com/raleighrental/ivytwobed.htmlThe one you'd be staying in will be bedroom 2. Also note that since this apartment is on the ground floor we don't get a balcony, but we get a fairly large patio with a brick privacy fence (and it's located on the sunny side of the apartment facing the center of the complex). This place is kept up pretty well. Maintenance problems get fixed within the week for regular stuff. The complex was built in the late 80's, and it's insulated pretty well (it's brick, though it has some drafts. I've got some things to block those though). You get your own private bathroom, and there's plenty of storage space for your stuff. The apartment comes with a stacked washer/dryer unit that gets the job done. We've had no bug problems in this apartment minus the odd spider, and neither of us smoke.Electric runs $60-130 a month depending on how hot/cold the apartment is kept. If you want to compare it to your bill, it was about $76 for November, $94 for December, and $112 in January. Water runs about 35-55 every two months, and we've currently got RoadRunner, digital cable w/ the DVR and that's about $114.50 a month. It's about a 25 minute walk to central campus from here. You can ride Frat Court or Avent Ferry to school if you prefer to ride the bus. Parking is great, I've never had a problem finding a spot right next to the apartment. You get one permanent parking pass for yourself and one guest pass if you're going to have someone spend the night (although honestly they don't tow people here very often, I think they have in the past when big parties have taken up a lot of spots, but that's pretty rare). The neighborhood is safe as far as I'm concerned, and if you lock your car it won't get broken into (assuming you don't leave money on the dashboard). If you're interested send me a PM.As far as how I live. I don't party, I don't get drunk, and when it gets down to it I work on my homework. Looking for somebody along the same lines (though I honestly don't give a shit if you get drunk and have some people over). I try to keep the apartment clean when I can (current conditions are messy, but my roommate doesn't necessarily help with that ). As far as drugs go, no drugs plz. I'd prefer not to have a smoking roommate as well, as my lungs really hate the shit. I should mention that I am a diabetic, but that should only concern you if I fall down and don't wake up (plz call 911). I'm a junior in Civil Engineering and I'd be happy to help out with homework if you're in the same major/classes.I'd be willing to help you move in (I've got a jeep cherokee SUV, which isn't terribly large inside but two cars are better than one). Again, if you're interested just shoot me a PM and we'll go from there. It's really a great place to live. It's near the college and it's fairly quiet. Easy to work and study and live your life without people interrupting your sleep every night. Thanks for reading. (Let me know if you want the cliff's notes version of this)

I sooo wish you were a female. I actually live in Ivy Commons in Bedroom 2 myself, and am looking for a new roommate starting Aug 1st, and you sound like an awesome person to live with... except for the whole Y chromosome thing.

Haha, I don't really care either way about whether my roommate is male or female (or whatever), but I understand your sentiment.

Suppose I should also mention that it's supposed to be a no-pets apartment. Bunch of people here do have pets though... They probably own their apartments...

I'll need a place in August just for the fall semester, but I don't think my parents would go for me living in a 2 bedroom with a dude.

Anybody else? ^ I understand your sentiment entirely. I wouldn't know how we'd sort out the lease at 6 months anyway since it's a 12 month lease. Find yet another roommate? Haha...

Come on then, don't be shy. I know some people don't want to live in the dorms any more, or perhaps you'd like to live within walking distance of campus in a place that doesn't suck.Plz to PM or IM.
