They're 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 3300 XM's, 24-port 10/100 switches. They have integrated traffic shaping and filtering that can be configured to prioritize multimedia/gaming traffic, and can be cascaded together to make one 48-Port switch using the right cable. Since then, I've met more than a few people who Carl has fucked over in essentially the same way. Right, not *most* of them, but even one would be enough. Stealing from people isn't cool, but being too much of a pussy to man up and admit it, after you've been given multiple chances to wipe the slate clean, well that just is what it is.

And, the lot of 'broken shit' that you're referring to was a collection of stuff that Carl knew was fucked up, and his whole game (at least at the time) was to grab up broken stuff, fix it and resell it. So, he got several laptops, an lcd (perfectly working), roughly 10-12 hard drives, an iPod, tons of cabling, an a ton of other shit. And yeah, the exchange was for him to spend $500 his cost at Best Buy where he worked at the time, to build us two simple desktops. No dice there either.

He did however turn over one thinkpad in the 'pile of broken shit' in less than 24 hours for $475. He gave the 17" flat panel Apple screen to some girl he thought he could get into the sack with, and then he sold and/or kept 11 of the 22 monitors I bought.

He was even making more than I was on each sale, that was the deal that I offered him and he accepted.

So, that's what I'm referring to.

ok, first off I don't sell broken shit, nor have I ever sold broken shit. The fact that I am 50% partnered in three successful Corporations nationwide should be enough to prove my honesty and integrity in the business world.

My rental property just went on the market today, I just bought it yesterday. My ad on TWW was just to gauge interest, due to the overwhelming interest, I bought the property. And a free standing structure/single family dwelling is not called a townhouse.

I have done business with Carl for years and never signed contracts or anything and I have never lost a dime or had a single issue with trust.

I am happy you have a job and are supporting your family now. It is a good thing to hear. And I did consider your side of the story from 3 years ago, I just don't believe you. The fact that the list of items involved has changed and grown is proof enough that you're not being honest in this situation.

I'd just like to say that we have these switches at work and fucking hate them. We have Linksys, Amer.com, 3Com, and Cisco, and these are the shittiest of the pack. Not saying they don't work, but reliability in the long run, they are not the best. And I'm not saying they aren't worth what the offer is, just warning people about the switches in general. Most people may not stress them enough around the house constantly to blow them out either.

Just my 2 cents from a tech department that is trying to get rid of these right now. As for this other drama going on, dunno shit about it and really don't fucking care.

Fregac sells a lot of computer shit on here and elsewhere. Basically he is good with shit that many people consider "broken", so he fixes up and resells, or just takes stuff off folks hands and makes a couple bucks for his trouble.

He and tsl dude apparently had some deal together and it went bad. Whose fault? Fuck if I know. Don't care. 3 sides to the story, and we only got each of thems side. My comments about my current situation were merely to establish some credibility for myself in defense of your rude remarks. They were not for your approval or to make me look cool.

sorry for hijacking the thread for a night everyone. I'm sure everyone involved is on the up and up now, and that no one has anything to worry about. I was up late, tired, hungry, and let my memories get the best of my emotions.

Garfus - I don't know you, but as I've said before, all I've heard is stellar opinions of you and your businesses. Not once did I intend to hurt your business reputation, and I apologize for the nasty comments, I was just reacting out of frustration. But that's not the kind of guy I try to be, so I'm sorry.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say that although we may have had issues with each other in the past, it was inappropriate and just kind of an asshole thing for me to do, to jump in and start all this shit. So, seriously, I'm sorry about that, and I hope you do find a buyer for these switches.

I actually had 5 of these switches at the last company I was the IT guy for, and they worked like a champ. I never had a problem, except for one or two ports going out, but these things had been around there for years, and if I had really needed to, I think the problems may have just been bad patch bay connections anyhow, so I'd actually highly recommend these...especially at $40/ea.

As usual, your prices are wicked good.

Also, I'd like to state for the record that although the stuff discussed above - well, it was all about business transactions between Carl and I, and had to do only with money.

I can honestly say that Carl is *really* fucking good at what he does (during the time we were hanging out, he taught me some things, and I watched him work...he's a hardware maniac). And, nothing that I ever received from him had any problems (ie - everything I ever witnessed him sell was top notch and worked like a champ, and I even saw him have folks come by if something wasn't working right, and he'd either fix it on the spot or trade it out or work out whatever was best for the other person at the time).

So, the past is the past, AND really, nothing about the situation we were talking about really has any bearing on Carl selling stuff on TWW or elsewhere. We had gone further than just buying something from each other every once in a while, and unfortunately things got fucked up along the way somewhere. We both remember it differently, or at least that's what we both keep posting back and forth, and really, it should just be put to rest. So, no matter what actually happened, Carl, you owe me nothing. (Seriously, print this page to a pdf at least) Today is 02-18-2007, and at this time, we're straight. And no more bullshit from my end.

Anyhow, I think I've said what's been on my mind this morning, so I won't take up any more space here.

I've done business with both carl and garth for the past two years and never had a problem. Every piece of equipment that I've bought were sold in the exact condition as mentioned and most of them worked (minus the backup battery, but it was missing the batteries...). Both are great stand up guys. I wouldn't hesitate to buy something from them again if they sell something I want.

tsl, please stfu. I think we got the story the last time you tried this bullshit and again in the 1st 3 posts of this thread; gone hijacked. And seriously, if you bought all of that shit from a surplus or auction, I highly doubt those 11 monitors were bought at 1600 for the lot...

Also, as mentioned before, 1600 bucks for a business should not bankrupt the company. It may set you back, but if 1600 bucks made you go out of business, then your company was not healthy to begin in the first place. At my work last year, our IT manager stole 50k worth of money, software, hardware shit. Every company should factor in non-payables, debt management, and losses. Its part of introduction to accounting... Should have learned this if you payed attention to class...


I have 2 stacks of these switches. They are decent for lan parties. The ones I have, about 1-3 ports don't work on them, but thats tolerable since they are 24 port switches and normal wear and tear does occur.
