^ Are you just getting most of your coupons from newspapers, etc or are you finding them online? I got a bunch off that grocerygame.com site, but I wanted to know if you had other good sites with coupons that you recommend.

You arent going to get many good coupons from the online sites. The best coupons are going to come from the news paper. Two companies put out newspaper inserts, Valassis and Smartsource. Once a month, proctor and gamble does it, too. Here is the rest of the years' schedule. You can probably hit a local recycling place and get a ton of inserts with no money:

September 30 Both

October 7 Both
October 14 Both
October 21 Both
October 28 Just 1 S

November 4 Both
November 11 1 S and 2V
November 18 Just 1 S
November 25 Nothing

December 2 BOTH
December 9 BOTH
December 16 Just 1 S
December 23 Nothing

^ Cool thanks. All I get right now is the Sunday paper. I wonder if you can sign up at those companies websites to have the coupons mailed to your home?

Shit I just googled smart source and it gives the same coupons as the grocery game website.

The cashier at the Lowes I went to also 'forgot'. But I am pretty conscious of this stuff, and I reminded him to triple them. It would have cost me $10.

Take the receipt back and they will fix it. I am sure the manager will give you cash. You shouldnt have to check everything their cashiers do.

I spent $29 and saved $45. I ended up purchasing things like paper towels (8 packs) that even heavily discounted still cost a lot of money. Was dissapointed I didnt do better on this trip, but I spent $30 and saved $50 at Harris Teeter earlier in the week (just coupon doubles), so I have still done well for the week.

So just to clarify....what are the exact details on coupon doubling. Harris Teeter and Lowes seem to do it everyday, but only up to a certain amount. What about Food Lion?

I didn't read all of this - but companies with the buyer card programs, specifically Kroger will send you coupons based on what you buy. So you can get $10 off a bill over $100 or something like that, or money off at the meat counter or something like that. It definitely adds up!

Lowes is pretty good with their greenpoints, but Lowes also REALLY pisses me off.

Case in point:

Lowes in-store coupons that are readily available all over the store are required to get the discounts that Harris Teeter will offer with just the VIC card. So if you forget to hand them their own coupon that is printed on the wall, then your paper towels, instead of being 4.99 are 7.99, and your progresso soup is $1 a can instead of 30 cents a can. And they have invalidated 2 new sets of Lowes cards for some unknown reason (manager cant figure it out). They also must be incapable of typing in any of the information supplied on the Lowes card sign-up sheet, because lookup by telephone number never works (if I forget the card). anyway, Harris Teeter FTW. I shop Lowes only when I have to. Not to mention I have the hardest time finding anything at Lowes. It all seems to make sense at the teeter.

I've got to start using coupons.

I paid $106 for $150 of groceries today, between misc sales and clearances, and could have done better if I hadn't had to buy some stuff at full price.

...A barely acceptable acceptable bill is half retail. An okay bill is a third (general purposes)

As I go hunt coupons, organize them, figure out sale schedules, and whathaveyou, I'll do my best to make damn helpful posts in here.

Today's: kroger has a shitton of stuff on sale. They have rotating 10/$10 sales, all store brand. Sometimes it'll be baking products on sale (usually between thanksgiving and christmas, FYI. I buy all my cocoa powder, flour, sugar, chocolate chips, vanilla, and some spices during this sale), sometimes it's frozen veggies (this time...IIRC, the bags of frozen chopped carrots are $1.29/ea normally - $1 til Saturday. I got them for when I don't have time to do carrots from the raw for roast). Coupled with these sales are usually 5/$10 on things like shredded cheese and some sandwich meats, as well as ice cream products. This week's circular (gotta enter your zip)

Now I'm gonna go read the parts of the thread I haven't yet

Harris Teeter has a turkey sale ending today. Spend $25 in the store and get a turkey for 19 cents a pound. I got a big frozen turkey for ~$4.

I'm sure a lot of stores have similar deals, though.

^^agreed...foodlions have been fairly suck too...only thing worth a damn this week is the 12 dollar bags of chicken buy one get one free and hamburger helper buy one get one free

Damn you guys are lucky to have grocery stores that double and triple coupons. I live in Kansas and we basically have Wal Mart, a store called Dillons that is now owned by Kroger, and then a bunch of smaller stores that I think suck like Aldi.

Anyway only Dillons offers any kind of double coupon thing and it is only up to $1 off. For example if I have a $0.75 coupon, they will "double" it up with an additional $0.25 so I get $1 off. If I have a 25 cent coupon, I get 50 cent off. It's better than nothing, but my wife and I can never make out spending less than we save.

50% off coupon code is THANKS at Restaurant.com

I just got $100 in local restaurant gift certificates (actual restaurants that I will eat at, too... like Ophelia's World Cafe and Zambra Tapas Bar) for $17.50

the $10 gift cards that typically cost $3 at Restaurant.com came out at $1.50
those are some Christmas gifts right there

A few weeks ago, they had 60 percent off, plus Restaurant.com was having a special where you got a free $10 certificate for each order. I should have bought more than 2.

^Keep an eye out because you can find in-store coupons for deli items and meat.

We generally get them in the store about once a month (I work at a Food Lion). When lunch meat is on sale buy one pound get one free, I walk out of there with lunch for the week for about $1.
