Just need to bitch. We've ported over to using Office 07 recently - holy shit what a shitty revision. Word is damn near unusable if you just want to hack a few things, and a fair amount of the keyboard shortcuts no longer work. .docx can kiss my ass as well - .rtf is the only thing that we save in anymore. It's like they tried to make this POS as bloated as possible, and they've succeeded.
I'm going back to the other POS of the previous version until I'm forced to.
OK - all better now 9/21/2007 12:42:36 PM |

I hate Office 2007 because it doesn't somehow prevent people from creating yet another thread about it. 9/21/2007 12:52:53 PM |

Why don't you just use WordPad or notepad if you just want to "hack a few things". I for one like the new word, it's integration of the equation builder and symbol table is a lot better among other things. The new excel on the other hand is taking some time getting use to. 9/21/2007 12:55:45 PM |

And FFS-- Yes, we know. It's new. It's different. It's also better once you take the time to learn it.

Yes, I too hate being able to modify advanced features after saving.
If only they had included a "save as 97-2003 document" 9/21/2007 1:05:39 PM |

From the lead UI designer (or the manager)
Quote : | "All of the keyboard shortcuts in Office continue to work exactly as they did in previous versions. In fact, we're doing more in the UI to advertise the keyboard shortcuts and adding new ones based on usage data. That's because keyboard shortcuts will usually be the single most efficient way to perform commands with the keyboard." |
