^ pretty much. Defense did *relatively* well. Running defense is, well, porous, to say the least. But when you allow an offense to stay on the field for as long as UL's was this game, the D is bound to crack. And that's as much on the offense as the defense. The offense has GOT to figure out how to hold the ball a little bit longer.

^ C'mon, think about it. You've got to consider how absolutely INEPT the offense was today. If the offense does even a halfway decent job, the defense isn't out on the field that long and doesn't give up that many yards, points or first downs.

Even the best defense in the country will break down if they're on the field for 40 minutes.

It was a six-point game in the third quarter. That's a damn good job on defense. Then the offense coughed up the ball one, two, three too many times. After that, the defense cracked and the team fell apart.

I mean, c'mon, who honestly thought we'd ONLY be down six after three quarters of play?

I was expecting something like 60-30 UL, but I did have quite a bit of hope once the score was 10-16... Unfortunately the 4th quarter is free touchdowns for whoever we're playing against.

Compared to how much they SHOULD have gotten against us... yes, our D did better than expected. That combined with the endurance our D showed, thanks to our offense being unable to hold the ball for a complete drive.

i dunno. the whole game i was just disgusted with how ineffective our D was. we had an INT and two 3-and-outs in the 3rd quarter but the rest of the game they dominated us.

Granted, our D did let them march down the field, but they also held UL back when they needed to... for the most part.

^ yes they did dominate us. them being forced to kick field goals has less to do with our D stopping them than their O not being able to take advantage of our general suckiness

Good is subjective. Compared to a school with a good football program, our D was mediocre/average. Compared to how good our team normally does, our D was great.

I maintain that our D did good. Louisville's offense dominates everyone... our D wasn't dominated nearly as much as they could have been.
