So a LONG time ago I was posting about how much Pictage charges for photo prints someone on here sent me a program to rip off the watermark and print them myself. I no longer have this E-mail and would love if you could send me the link and directions again!

BTW, there are plenty of ways to remove the watermarks, but it is illegal and very rude.

^I thought they were his/her photos in the first place, with a WM from the website. If they're not yours buy 'em. If they are, heal it off.

Since photographers charge way too much for wedding photos, the digital copies should be free.

Using the Firefox web browser(firefox.org), go to pictage.  You'll want to login with a fake name and a throw-away email address, just in case.  (The can still track your IP address, but they won't do that unless you piss them off.)  Pull up your wedding and browse the photos.  When you see a photo you like, hold "SHIFT" on the keyboard while you left-click the photo.  The photo should pop up in a new firefox window with all the normal toolbars at the top.  At the top, choose "Tools" then "Page Info".  
 
You should now see a new  "Page Info" window.  Click the "Media" tab.  Right-click the third address, which will look something like

and choose "Copy".  
 
Open a new firefox window and "Edit"->"Paste" this url in the address bar.  If you hit enter you should see the photo again,still with a watermark from the photographer.  To fix this, edit the url like so
http://pis-farm.pictage.com/servlet/PIS?load=/home/image/proxydb/M/E/ME009/2007/198348/02/109_D_S_0282.jpg|crop&x0=0&y0=1&wdth=900&hite=600|prop=below&wdth=400&hite=400&cb=1
You'll notice that I just deleted the "wmark=/home/image/assets/watermarks/ME009/ME0092006.jpg| "   part of the url.  You should now see the photo with no text on it.
 
Now we need to get the full size version.  The sample size photo you see now is 400 pixels wide x 400 pixels tall.  I don't know how big the actual photo is, but 1600x1200 is all my monitor will show, so let's use that size for now.  Edit the url again:
http://pis-farm.pictage.com/servlet/PIS?load=/home/image/proxydb/M/E/ME009/2007/198348/02/109_D_S_0282.jpg|crop&x0=0&y0=1&wdth=900&hite=600|prop=below&wdth=1600&hite=1200&cb=1
Do you see where the 400 and 400 near the end changed to 1600 and 1200?  Hit enter and the photo should appear in all it's glory.  Right-click the photo to save it.

I applaud you then. For what most photographers charge, the customer should get a digital copy and the negatives.

Don't even get me started on the school photo racket.

Don't get me wrong, pictage is a wonderful service filling a very real need. But if photographers use it expecting security, they're kidding themselves.

Overseas, you keep the negatives. It's unheard of to hold your pictures for ransom, as they do here.
