I has it. Legitimately. I do not like it, and despise taking it. I took my first for the semester maybe an hour ago?
Now I'm all nauseated and shit, like happens ~1/2 the time I take it.

I'm not mean to you, if that's what you're asking.
I typically take either a neutral stance to folks, or a clearly sarcastic one (e.g., "what boobs?" in m2c's my boobs hurt thread). 11/15/2007 8:52:54 PM |

ummm, yeah. whoever the fuck prescribed you ritalin should have his license taken away. That shit is awful, and the side-effects are horrible. Tell him you want something different, stat. 11/15/2007 8:53:09 PM |

I was on it for a very long time as a teenager. It work(ed) much better than most others I was ever put on, and cost was another thing working in its favor. He had a much better basis for rx'ing to me than to most college kids. Otherwise, I might agree with you.
Btw, it was someone understandably leery as fuck of rxing it to students: a doctor at student health.
I don't disagree with you about the side effects, though. I used to never have any. Also, this isn't meant to stir the 'pharmaceuticals to minors' pot
^No, I haven't, and they'd be pointless anyway.

umm...
you all are acting like Ritalin is some kind of crazy drug
it works and the effects are pretty mild over the long term
the first few times on it are a little bit different, but it's nothing to go ballistic over 11/15/2007 9:01:19 PM |

^^HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
When they started me on it, my parents elected to not tell a teacher. Mom got a call in the middle of the school day saying "uh...did yall do something different? [my name] is staying in her seat, being quiet, completing her work, and BEHAVING!"

im prescribed 90mg a day of adderall. yes that is 3 30mg tabs per day. she says my ADHD is that bad and was underlying my drug abuse and why i never worked or had a job. but i dont take it, id never sleep and i dont think it would be worth it in terms of productivity. its like on call at eckerds (along with other drugs i refuse to take) or whatever in case i ever decide i really need it i would never ever ever be able to sleep if i did. like seriously. thats gotta be the maximum allowed by law since most people take like 20mg a day] 11/15/2007 9:21:36 PM |

^^ holy god, jackleg
when I was on it, I was on 10 mg per day maximum, otherwise it made me stay awake for way too long and gave me horrible headaches
I mean, I wasn't on it for ADHD or anything, but it certainly didn't make me feel good
I think I still have some somewhere

They probably would. If I took it regularly
I'm rx'ed 20mg 3x/day. I've got half the bottle left, and it was filled on 3/18 >.<

Having been involuntarily over-medicated for far too long as a teen, I also refuse to take damn near anything.
It seems to both shock and frustrate some folks in the mental health profession when you are upfront about not wanting meds, but also taking a hands-off/PRN approach to handling whatever it is you're seeing them about. Even the ones who really are awesome, and want to help people, are flabbergasted by someone who doesn't want meds/refuses meds, and doesn't expect or plan to be in frequently.
Which is a sad sign of what "standard" treatment practices are like 11/15/2007 9:43:25 PM |
