^^What are you talking about?

I was under the impression that Simon is NOT under scholarship. Larry wanted to stay here in Raleigh for his kids sake.

why would you waste a scholarship on harris when you can legally give his dad the money and have him walk on?

simon was a walk-on, but when we lost the recruits from herb and ced went pro we had extra scholly's. he was given a temp scholly with the understanding that it will go away if we need it to bring in a scholarship player.

Simon is on scholarship for this year because we had an extra. He will not be on a scholarship for next year ....we already had 2 recruits committed before we gave him the scholly for this season. This was understood all along by Simon, Coach Harris, all involved. I don't really know what the big deal is.

There is a rumor going around on StateFans that Horner won't be back next year. He may not be the best player, but at least he played like it mattered.

From some Kentucky newspaper.... BTW Rivals has him listed at 210

Quote :
"Washington (D.C.) Largo has made it to No. 4 in the Washington Post's poll and has established itself as one of the top public schools in the Washington area.

And one of the main reasons is senior Maurice Sutton.

The 6-foot-11 Sutton is averaging 21.9 points and 10 rebounds a game and on Saturday had 13 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots in a victory over Corbin in the Nissan on Nicholasville event at Lexington Catholic.

"It was a pleasure just to be down here playing," Sutton said. "I love it here."

Sutton is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 30 center nationally in the Class of 2008 and showed his upside. He's long, runs the floor well and will be able to bulk up in college.

And where might that be?

"I'm pretty much wide open right now," Sutton said. "I have a few schools (on his list) and there may be something else out there. I'm just waiting."

Sutton said he has offers from Marquette, Miami (Fla.), Clemson, Seton Hall, Tulane and Duquesne. He said Kentucky is also recruiting him.

"I think they are recruiting me pretty hard," Sutton said. "I've been talking to coach (Glynn) Cyprien. I just like the atmosphere so much here."

Sutton said he has not been offered a scholarship by the Wildcats but said "I think there is a possibility they may offer. I hope so."

One thing that Sutton made clear was that he's high on the UK program.

"I love Kentucky and I love Lexington," he said. "It's just great here. The support is great, I just like everything about it.""

"# Washington (D.C.) Largo and Corbin played a very entertaining game with Largo using a strong fourth quarter to win 75-64. Maurice Sutton, a 6-foot-11 center, had 13 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots for Largo. Malik Thomas added 21.

Sutton gave me a long list of schools that have offered him a scholarship. He's a senior with a long body and a lot of potential. Sutton said Kentucky is actively recruiting him. He's now sitting in the stands chatting with current UK player Ramon Harris."

^^ BTW, that Sutton's sister played for UNC but his mom played for NC State in the 70's. He has an offer from Marquette and is hoping for one from Kentucky.

haha, what matters is he is slow as molasses in the winter time and cant defend anyone because he is tall and slow and goofy

I hope he does transfer and opens up a spot for someone with speed and that can actually defend on the perimeter and block

this thread is soooo depressing.....

wtf.... I can't believe Sidney has such a hard time getting a pedigree PG to come here...

Aren't him and his staff supposed to be PG developers?
Wouldnt any pedigree PG to come here would be the man in the eyes of our coaches and fanbase in addition to plenty of reps against top competition?

He's only had 1 class.

We thought we had Wright. At last minute he switched and we landed Javi.

...and our #1 PG was hurt last year.

would not surprise me one bit.

early in the year everyone's favorite pp poster, gravis, said that he knew something (but wouldn't say, SOP for gravis) that qualified a statement he had made about having a scholly extra from what we thought we would have.

and watching horner this year he just doesn't seem to fit, and has also completely lost his shot.

What happened to Horner was he played mostly PF last year but played only SF this year. He is WAY too slow for SF. Damn I wish Johnny Thomas hadn't blown out his knee

PF was Horner's primary position throughout his freshman year, 06-07. He played some SF too, but got the majority of his minutes at PF. He didn't play PF at all in 07-08 except for at the very end of a couple games.

^ Yeah, but he was a makeshift power forward and only because we needed him to be. He was meant to be a small forward in Herb Sendek's offense. That way he wouldn't have to rely on his glaring lack of athleticism to beat anyone, he could just shoot open jumpers. Of course this year he couldn't even do that.

uhmmm no he didnt

he came in quite a bit for Gavin and a few times at SG for Fells and Trevor

i hardly remember him comin in for Costner or Ben, he is wayyyyyyyyyy to light to be playin there, and too slow to be anywhere except the bench anyways

Um, yes he did. He played both, but he played PF more, and in lots of games he ONLY played PF. Who the heck else would Lowe have put in at PF? There was no one else on our roster at the time.

Just add up the minutes if you don't believe me.

ok listen guys, it's not like you put five guys on the court and one is a center, one is a power forward, one is a small forward, one is a shooting guard and one is a point guard. you would think after 10 years of herb you would at least realize this, if nothing else !!

just b/c he comes in for costner does not mean he's playing as a power forward. i cannot recall ever seeing horner setting up inside the 3 point line, or backing someone down.

You're right. But it still means he's playing against a PF.

Last year Horner was being defended by PF's and his lack of athleticism wasn't as blatant. This year he was defended by more athletic SF's which makes it a lot harder to get open on the perimeter.

that'd be fine, except he was open all the time. he just chose to pump fake and pass instead.

that'd be fine except people don't pump fake when they're open. They pump fake to create space, which means they're not open. And Honer wasn't as "open" for his shots this year as he was last year. I'm not trying to blame all his struggles on the position change, but it clearly played a big part

i swear to you, dennis horner pump fakes when he's open.

it's not so much a pump fake as an 'ok i'm going to shoot... nevermind fuck that, i'll just pass it'.

he did pump fake when he was open. I think because he would miss a shot or two, then lose confidence and just pump fake or pass or both.
