These guards are great, but Favors would be the recruit that would help us most IMO.

firstly, he implied he'd rather get favors than brown. secondly, yes. i'd take guards over bigmen every day of the week.

I 2nd that. Remember how well Costner and McCauley played when we had one solid PG? They arent really eye popping big men, but they got the job done rather well with Atsur...

would you extend his contract after two seasons in the bottom half of the ACC and one dead last in the conference? I think it's the right choice. His contract is still 5 years (am I right?) so the 2010 recruits would still be playing for him if he fulfills his contract. If we're in the same position in 2010 as we are now, with his players that he recruited for system, then I see no reason why we'd extend it any further.

I remember those villanova teams with 4 guards were pretty badass, although I don't recall if they had a decent front court. i just want players who will win us games.

We'll need at least one big guy in the 09 class. Don't think this will be more than a 3 man class, so Wood + Brown + Favors/Kelly/Other Big Guy.

The C.J. Trifecta will be the Holy Trinity of NC State. They will Resurrect this program and lead us to the Promised Land. Also, T-Ferg might be swallowed by a whale; I'll have to check the Dead Sea Scrolls again.

Quote :
"Like most of the top basketball recruits in the state, South Atlanta center Derrick Favors will travel around the country this month playing in front of hundreds of college coaches.

College coaches are allowed by the NCAA to watch players during a July evaluation period.

South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick said as soon as he can catch up with Favors, his 6-foot-9 All-American center, they will sit down to begin trimming his list of potential colleges. Reddick said they likely will trim to at least six schools before classes begin on Aug. 11.

He said that Georgia and Georgia Tech are still in the hunt for Favors, who averaged 23.7 points, 17.1 rebounds and 9.1 blocked shots last season.

“My phone has been ringing off the hook,” Reddick said. “We haven’t eliminated anybody so far.”"

Sources say Lo Brown to State is 95% likely, and there's a good shot we're in Favors top 3.

It's a shame Wall is being all shady with the clifton boys.

Oklahoma State, you kidding me?

Spend one year in college, and you're gonna leave your hometown to go play for the megalomaniac donor at OSU? After all the money he threw at Bill Self, I'd love to see what he gives Wall if he commits.:

Come on Wall, if you're gonna be a shady bastard, at least be a shady bastard with the Wolfpack I'm sure Wendell could hook you up.

Atlanta area coach on Lo Brown. Also had this to say:
"Lo mainly loves getting away and liked the area up in Raleigh, he knows he can be a star there and really could be someone to turn the program around, hes a great kid and hard worker, I have no doubt he will do great things in college."

If you're around PackPride much, one of the premium guys through the Favors thing out a while back.

what they're saying on PP is that those clifton brothers are really riding his coattails, and lowe wasn't interested in giving one of them a job.

probably a little bit of truth and a little bit of sour grapes, if i had to guess.

Figured it would be something like that. Rumor is Q is out though, so maybe one of them could try his potentially old job. I don't know if it'd be worth it though.

^^ Same info on IC. Wall's AAU coach is handling his recruitment and looking for a job and money from whichever school Wall signs with. Basically, this one's gonna go to the highest bidder, which is typically Memphi$.

That definitely shows the money being passed around. When was the last time a major recruit from the east coast's top 3 looked something like that, when the guy has no west coast/midwest connections?

This is absurd, considering he still has 5 years remaining.

Also about Wall, Oregon and Baylor look a lot shadier than OkSU considering that their basketball program has been decent.....

....except

....they have one of the dirtiest athletics departments in the NCAA.

Yeah, if this is how it's gonna be with Wall I wouldn't give him the time of day. Personally, I'm glad Sid appears to be backing away from this and refusing to beg for his services. At least the man has some pride in himself and in this program.

Not surprised. Knowing that this is NCSU, you had to figure we would be settling for our plan B PG. Probably going to look get our plan B forward after Favors chooses someone else.

^ I wouldn't call backing off of a prospect that has shady handlers that want a big payout/job settling on a Plan B PG. If this is all true, then I would be happy that Lowe isn't dealing with that shit. And you know how good of a relationship State has with the NCAA. You know something is up when even Memphis and Calipari are seemingly backing off.

The desire to make a decision is starting to build for Raleigh (NC) Word of God star John Wall. The top rated point guard in the class of 2009 has seen his already intense recruiting turned up a few notches by those involved and he’s starting to lean towards ending it all.

“It’s coming as soon as possible,” said John Wall of a decision at this week’s LeBron James Skills Academy. “I could make it after this camp or whenever. It could happen at any time. As long as schools get down and I feel like that’s the spot for me I’ll make a decision.”

Given his talent and potential, Wall could pretty much pick any school in the country and he rattled off a list of some of the schools that he’s considering the most.

“Memphis, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and N.C, State,” said Wall. “Those are the schools that are coming at me really hard lately.”

Amidst all of the hoopla over his college decision, the 6-3 PG has continued to improve his game.

“I think I’ve improved my jump shot,” said Wall. “I’m making my mid range shot and keeping defenders honest and just getting my teammates more involved and being a good leader.”

Wall also took some time to address the approach that Kansas has been using in their recruitment.

“During the basketball season Coach Dooley was coming out to my practice and a couple of games,” Wall told Phog.Net. “Then I talked to Bill Self a few times on the phone and he said that he really wanted to recruit me. Coach Self told me he was going to come to some of my games and he’s been at most of my games.”

Wall also mentioned that he likes the way Kansas uses their guards.

“It’s a good school, with guys like Mario Chalmers and Sherron Collins, they play up-tempo,” said Wall. “They also play defense and that’s what makes them better. Most guards run offense but they don’t always play defense like that. That’s something I’d like to do, really play better defense and round out my game.”

Even with all of the recruiting attention, Wall swears that he doesn’t feel any pressure. According to him part of the reason he’s trying to make a decision -- or at the very least cut his list down -- in the near future is to make sure he’s not leading anybody on.

“I don’t think I have any pressure, you give every school a chance,” said Wall. “This is a once in a lifetime chance and I didn’t have all of this a couple of years ago. But, I don’t want to lead a school on and have them thinking I’m coming to their school and then it’s one of the schools I’m not really considering. That’s why after this week I’m going to try and narrow my list down.”"

I really hope we land Wall, but I want us to do it the right way. I really hate all of these leeches trying latch onto these ultra talented kids and use them to improve their situation. Hopefully Wall's mom wins out and her son goes to the hometown school who's fans and coaches care about him the most. Wall would be a hero in Raleigh if he came to State.

Apparently everyone that watches him is very excited over Ryan Harrow's play. I wouldn't be surprised to see his name get blown up over the next couple of years...remember, no one even knew who John Wall was last year.
