Think McClendon is on-board with the Brissett plan, also think he knows it would be better for him to redshirt his first season.

i think we should give Pete Thomas a few drives every game just to keep the defense guessing which team we're throwing the ball to

mclendon looked good in the shrine bowl. he's not a runner but has a nice arm. needs to put on some muscle, kinda twiggy a la the giraffe

i think he'd be ready to go as a Redshirt FR but as long as Brisset is good stepping in after 2 years in the program should be good

Losing on 4* WR Thompson likely ends our chances at the package deal with 4* RB DTW from the same school. Would have been a nice way to end the class with that package deal.

^There are actually three guys from Hillside...we already have one enrolled in Kalen McCain. DTW and Thompson were never a package deal anyways. It will come down to WVU and State for DTW. He listed WVU as his leader after the visit there, however he comes here this coming weekend I believe. We'll see what happens with him.

As far as Thompson...WR is one of the least of my worries on this team at the moment.

We've got a lot of young talent at WR with Ramos, Cherry and Scantlon. We really need some RB's -- especially with Shadrach's situation.

IIRC, the hillside RB was down to us and WVU -- not Clemson -- so I'm thinking it shouldn't be a huge deal that Thompson committed elsewhere.

OT Will Richardson switches from UVA to NC State. Huge news as a solid OT is one of the few missing pieces from this recruiting class.

Kept seeing this on the bottom line during the basketball game. This combined with the basketball win means a good day for NC State Athletics.

It sounds like even though we may still have a chance with DTW or of getting Trevion to flip, we are basically done once Boone officially commits as we are hitting the 25/class ceiling

OL Quincy McKinney sounds like's still a possibility but he wouldn't count against the 25 since he would be coming in as a junior, I think.

Off the top of my head we've gotten 3 recruits to flip(VT, PSU, and UVA) for the '14 class.

I think we may be out scholarships available for the '14 class. Not for sure, but that's what I've been hearing. Too bad we couldn't get Trevion Thompson too.

I've gotta think if DTW wants to come here, they find a way to get him here. I mean, the guy is still taking a visit here this weekend, right?

Seems like with academic qualifying issues, there's bound to be at least a couple players who have to spend a year at prep school before coming to campus. Not sure how that factors into things, but there's got to be some gray area.

Think we're officially full for this class. Only option is McKinney if he wants to come because he won't apply to the 25 limit because he's a JUCO. Already have the 2 greyshirts coming in.

Imagine barring any defections next year's class will be limited # wise.

Props to DD and staff. This is how to seal the deal with recruits in 2014:

Quote :
"“(The coaches) had been to my house before, but it was something about that time,” Richardson said. “All the other recruits were on FaceTime. They were like, ‘We need you here, we need to start this brotherhood.’ It was like eight guys on FaceTime, I’m trying to talk to all of them at the same time.”"

Barring McKinney joining us as a Juco(which would be great), 2014 class is officially wrapped up.

Glad our staff gets a little extra time focusing on the 2015 class. From what I've read, sounds like more think it's going to be a strong in-state class.

Always interesting to see some players ranked as 4 stars on Scout and not on Rivals (and vice versa).

Four Stars on Scout
DE: Kentavius Street
QB: Jalan McClendon
DB: Troy Vincent

Four Stars on Rivals
DE: Kentavius Street
LB: Germaine Pratt (listed as 3-star safety on Scout)
DE: Justin Jones (3 star DE on Scout)

Had a bunch of 2015 and 2016 kids there for Junior Day today and picked up our first commitment:

Quote :
"One of the advantages of wrapping up a class a few weeks before signing day is it gives a program a head start on the juniors. NCSU got a big jump on its 2015 class by landing a verbal commitment Sunday from three-star athlete Malik Douglas of Southport (N.C.) South Brunswick High, as first reported by The Wolfpacker.

Douglas confirmed the news with The Wolfpacker Sunday afternoon.

Douglas had flown under the radar of recruiting services, but not NC State or his region. Wolfpack running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Des Kitchings first spotted Douglas last spring, and when Douglas, 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, impressed during NC State's camp last summer, he immediately became a target for the Pack.

Douglas had ran the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds there and had a 10-10 standing broad jump.

As a junior, Douglas piled up 71 tackles, including 16 sacks, five forced fumbles, three pass breakups and a blocked punt, earning unanimous all-conference honors for a winless South Brunswick squad. He also

He had picked up an offer from Charlotte and is rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. He would become the second South Brunswick grad to play at NC State in recent history. Reserve defensive tackle A.J. Ferguson just completed his eligibility in 2013."

Just looked back over O'Briens last two classes. Holy shit they were pitiful.

In other news, here's some new Jalan McClendon highlights. Got to love the accuracy he throws with. Seems like he always hits the WR in stride. He's got a chance to be a good one if he can put on some weight.

This is a good write up of our recruitment success this year. So far, all of the major recruitment services have us ranked between 3-7, which far better than TOB's efforts. Unfortunately, we will need a consistent top 3 recruiting class every year to have any chance at a conference championship.

We're still middling in the ACC recruiting wise, that would be about 3rd in the Atlantic? Which is the best TOB could manage

Third in the Atlantic could still be third in the conference. Unfortunately, with our coaching staff, we MUST have the most talent on the field, because we have the least talent on the sidelines.
