This is not only exposing bias, but shows them outright lying. I don't take that accusation lightly, but the proof is there.
Today, FoxNews posted an AP article on the Wyoming caucuses, while taking the liberty to edit and remove parts of it. This is no big deal, as newspapers and news agencies do this all the time to fit space requirements.
But, they didn't just cut some parts out - they changed the factual content of a sentence.
In the screenshot of this AP article (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2420/2171632349_f56e6d2a7e_o.jpg), you see the sentence that states:
"Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul have passed through (Wyoming) since September." It is circled on the screenshot.
Now, a screenshot of FoxNews carrying this same article, with their fancy editing (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2289/2172421594_a280290737_o.jpg), with the now distorted sentence:
"Only Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, and Duncan Hunter have passed through (Wyoming) since September." This is circled on the screenshot.
And for confirmation, here is a screenshot of some Wyoming press coverage of Ron Paul's visit on October 29,2007 (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2264/2172464400_764d7da35b_o.jpg)
Fox had the factually correct version of the story in their hands, and intentionally made it false just to avoid having the name "Ron Paul" appear in their story.
Yet, I'm sure somehow many here will not consider such a willful violation of journalistic integrity much of a problem.
I used screenshots because for a while Fox removed their article, but now it's back up and as wrong as ever.
Shit like this doesn't happen on accident.

To me, this isn't about Ron Paul.
To surgically remove a name from a sentence so that it is then factually wrong, just because of bias, should get someone fired on the spot. Anything else would rightly put everything the news agency does in doubt. 1/6/2008 8:58:41 PM |

Yeah, this sucks.
Fox news sucks.
In reality, all televised media sucks (at least what I see on cable and in the local airwaves). I stopped watching that shit regularly a while ago.
I'm not terribly surprised that fox would do this though. A lot of hardcore republicans don't like Ron Paul because he's a bit different than most all of the politicians out there.
I've known Fox news makes bold faced lies for a while though. Just watch their televised news and read some of their articles. They're sensationalized to hell and some of their more annoying characters (like Sean Hannity) are just downright sleazy.
I thought they were just as bad as the other stations were at sensationalizing/cherry picking though. This lowers the bar for them quite a bit.

Ah. I didn't realize he was there beforehand and then removed it.
Fox News is going to be fun to watch this presidential cycle. They hate Paul, who will probably disappear in February after most of the primaries are done, but they also hate Huckabee, which makes me laugh. 1/6/2008 9:06:10 PM |

Any time a republican screws up or is unpopular or just for kicks I guess you see a little D for Democrat by their name on the bar at the bottom of the screen of fox news.
When he was grilling Alberto Gonzalez.
They've hit others with it too. For Larry Craig that left out the letter all together but had several labeled republicans saying this unlabeled senator was a bad person giving the impression he was a democrat. Its nothing new for the them to change facts around. What is new is with going after Paul they are now hitting some people who would otherwise enjoy fox news which is an interesting twist. 1/6/2008 9:55:59 PM |

Speaking of fox news making "mistakes" here's a nice example. A video where they repeatedly talk about Obama being a Muslim, saying he's gone to a madrassa, but hopefully not one of "the kind that want to blow us up." http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/19/fox-obama-madrassa/
Here's part of a CNN response where the guy who runs the public school is surprised its being called a Madrassa.

They left it out because they don't think that he's a major contender. This is the same reason that they don't say shit about the Alan Keyes campaign. 1/6/2008 10:54:38 PM |

to leave his name out because they don't think he's a contender is shitty enough, but to add the qualifer ONLY is pretty outrageous 1/6/2008 11:18:00 PM |
