So I got pulled over and issued a ticket for not wearing my seat belt. I tried to Google the penalities but only found laws. Do seat belt tickets affect your insurance or points on your license? Also, I had a speeding ticket a year ago and asked for a Prayer for Judgement. Will a seat belt ticket affect that? I'm trying to figure out if I should just pay it or get a lawyer to handle it. What do you think?

1. you should have never used prayer of judgment on a speeding ticket
2. you should probably get a lawyer- if you hadnt have used prayer of judgement you could probably just have showed up and gotten it dropped
3. there is already a topic for tickets

iirc, seat belt tickets are fine/court cost only. no points.

prayer for judgement is never a good move.

I don't understand why people say it's not a good idea to use a prayer judgment for a speeding ticket.

Other than speeding...I'm a law-abiding citizen. Why not use a prayer for judgment so my insurance doesn't go up??

^ because your first ticket will be reduced by the ADA to under 9 over if you have never recevied a speeding ticket aka NO POINTS/NO INSURANCE INCREASE (just the fine). I worked there for a while and saw so many idiots use their prayer or get a lawyer for there first speeding ticket.

Seat belt was an infraction, meaning no insurance or points problems (just the fine).

I didn't say "first" speeding ticket either...just "a" speeding ticket.

Check with your insurance company. Some raise rates for this kind of fraction (insurance points are different than license points).

In NC, two reductions = license points.

NCSU Legal Services has a good website that discusses NC traffic laws

I'm sorry, but I can do nothing but laugh at people that get tickets for not wearing seat belts.
