So I had a shot of this infused tequila last night that inspired me to make this thread:
It was smooth as shit. I love tequila, but actually hate peppers. The initial taste was pretty awesome and although the hot/spicy pepper finish kind of bothered me...it was well worth it and really wasn't that bad.
I've definitely become a fan of infused liquors. We make two really good ones at my bar. One is a Sauza Hacienda Tequila infused with pineapple, vanilla bean, and cinnamon sticks. We let it sit for about week and then drain it out and refrigerate. Really great by itself or on the rock...also makes a ridiculous margarita. We also make an infused rum with 1.5 parts Myers and Mt. Gay, .5 parts Captain Morgan and Malibu, infused with pineapple and vanilla bean. Also really good on the rocks (good desert drink), but our specialty drink is a splash of fresh lime juice, splash of coke, and soda water.
I also made a thread on this liquor about a month ago and guess I'll include it again:
Really good stuff when I don't feel like shooting the hard liquor. Gives you a nice energy kick, good amount of alcohol, and it tastes good. We run through about two bottles of this on weekend nights making just shots.
But if I had my choice, it probably comes from one of these three:
and if cost does not matter...then this:
Anyone have any interesting liquors or drinks that you consume that aren't quite normal? I guess Jameson and Don Julio Reposado probably don't fall into those categories...but I just love them so much. 3/18/2008 8:19:54 PM |

I love High Life on the beach.
I've also never met anyone who has taken a bar mat shot. I think its an urban legend that anyone has actually taken one. 3/18/2008 8:36:17 PM |

1) The Tapeworm
A very well rounded shot, the Tapeworm really would be a super burden for your digestive track, but at least you can puke this Tapeworm out.
* 1 oz. Vodka * ½ oz. Tobasco * Pepper * Small Portion of Mayonaise
Add in liquids, sprinkle with pepper, then top the shot class with a thin layer of mayonaise. Once you poke through the layer of mayo, you get a glorious blast of vile liquid and you will probably feel symptoms associated with real tapeworms: abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, loss of appetite. Really, don't try this shot. 3/18/2008 9:20:57 PM |

^When I first worked as a barback we had a bartender that made a shot similar to that. I can't remember exactly what it had in it...but I know tobasco was one of the ingredients. He only made when someone would come to the bar on their birthday and ask for a shot that the bartender didn't think they could hold down. He would make this shot and it would never fail....everyone always threw up. 3/18/2008 9:31:02 PM |

I had this fantastic flaming drink at a mongolian grill in Virginia Beach. Comes in a huge goblet with a pit in the center that looks like a volcano, where they put the 151 on fire. Light/Dark Rum, Amaretto, Grenadine, Pineapple/Cranberry mixers. Comes out looking bright red, surrounding the flaming volcano, looks awesome. Supposed to be for two people, but I drank it all myself. 3/18/2008 10:53:56 PM |

Cement Mixer
Take a shot of Bailey's and hold it in your mouth, then shoot a shot of lime juice and swish around. The lime juice makes the cream curdle and if you do it right you have a jello type substance in your mouth. 3/18/2008 11:02:28 PM |

I'm making a ginger infused vodka at home currently. I'm going to use it to make sake based martini's (if you can still call it a martini).
1 pt Ginger infused vodka (regular vodka works also) 3 pts Sake
Shake with ice and strain into martini glass Garnish with thin slice of fresh or pickled ginger or a lemon twist

i saw it a ton of times when i worked at applebee's on hillsborough. usually employees and birthday people. but also people used to ask for it back when applebees had dollar draft night. people ended up way way too drunk to be where they were.
[old story no one cares about]
thinking back, that was wild. my coworkers and myself were the most irresponsible bunch of kids ever working there and serving alcohol to people. i'm really surprised we never got shut down by the ALE or sued because someone drove home drunk and ran over someone. we'd serve parties of underage kids and sit down with them and drink shots and shit.
serving underage people, encouraging mega binge drinking, allowing drunks to drive, and drinking with the customers. WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

^The other interesting liquor that I saw they made was an olive and onion infused vodka.
For me...but I was sitting beside a girl when I found it on the internet and she said it sounded delicious. She's a big fan of martinis (I hate olives...and vodka too actually)...and she said that it sounded like it would make the perfect martini. 3/19/2008 8:27:12 AM |
