Gray's downtown next to Natty Greene's has good chips. They have good everything, actually. Probably my favorite lunch spot these days, plus the waitresses are usually hot and flirty.

Gray's is right next to Natty Greene's.

I don't personally use any YMCA's but my sister works at the Spears YMCA on Horsepen Creek. One of my coworkers does water aerobics at the downtown YMCA. Both say they love them.

^ yah i swim.

i went to grey's last night (to drink not to eat). i just had one drink because i gave myself an 11pm curfew. but it was a cool place. i still want to go back and eat, though.

does anyone know of a good tailor in gboro?

yeah, i kinda have a little crush on one of the waitresses there. i am pretty sure she's single, just not sure how to ask her out. i am always weird about flirting with / asking out attractive waitresses because I assume they get hit on all the time and are immune to it. any suggestions?

you can tell if they are into you by the way they treat you when it's not busy.

it'll be kinda hard, but see if you can find out when she's working again, but not during a weekend.

go in , sit in her section, see if she recognizes you or introduce yourself.

eye contact.

yeah, she knows us because we go in there quite a bit. comes and sits down with us when it isn't busy. i think she digs me. i know she hangs out up there on thursday nights when they have bands, so i think my approach is going to be rolling up there Thursday and talking to her when she isn't working.

I went to Trans Tailoring and Alterations at 4915 High Point Rd and thought they did a great job on the bridesmaid dress that needed altering... it was $50 so a tiny bit expensive to just get the sides shaped right but I thought well worth it!

Ragsdale is where it's at Downtown is too crowded and I don't care for the uppity Summerfield folks that use Spears.

BB's Alterations on Battleground does a great job as well. They're near Rockola in the back of the building.

Does anyone in G-boro get the daily paper and read what they are re-doing with I-40 around Wendover? I only read what I could see from the outside because I didn't have any change when I got breakfast. Apparently instead to planning for the noise created by the new "loop" by building sound barriers they are just renaming Business I-40 back to regular I-40. . .

Found it: http://www.news-record.com/content/2008/09/12/article/dot_to_divert_i_40_from_loop

Let's hope that Death Valley doesn't regain it's namesake. That place was a freakin' nightmare in the weekends while trying to get to work at PTI.

does anyone ever go to 1/2 priced wine night at cafe europa?

i've never been. apparently it is where everyone downtown goes on wed nights. and not just law students. people at twerk were talking about it, too.

i would go...except i would just rather sleep than drink.

I used to go every Wednesday mainly just to meet chicks (it's pretty much all women and gay dudes), because I don't drink wine. But you definitely need to go while the weather is still nice because you can stand outside. In the winter, it gets a little too packed for my taste. If you are a wine drinker I would say you definitely need to go. You'd enjoy it.

a real job. I'd love to find a marketing/account management job (not sales) for a company around gboro. I'm pretty much open to anything that pays decent.

[dork - first Old School post]

Ugh, born and raised in Greensboro, back after graduating in December, living at home. Desperately looking for a job (not in NC, hopefully).

I ditto megameg - Tran's Tailor on High Point Rd (towards Sedgefield, etc) is awesome. They tailored a pair of pants for my brother - streamlining them a bunch, hem, etc. And they fit him like a glove. It's also across the street from my dad's shop, in Hunt Village. Best fud ever -> Jerusalem Market.

it's not a sit-down restaurant, it's a store. but he sells sandwiches of all kinds (falafel, turkey, ham, italian/turkish meats, wrapped in a very thin bread, etc etc), meat pies, cheese pies, spinach pies, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ghanouj, etc etc etc. (And it's all homemade.) along with roasted nuts, chocolate, crackers, cookies, rices and pastas, beans, a huge deli selection...basically foods from all over the world.

basically, this is the best summary of the store i can offer: review from news & record
