movies where an under-privileged youth through hard work and perseverance gets everything to work out in the end

Really, any inspirational movie.

The good guys are unambiguously good and the bad guys are unambiguously bad. Especially scenes where the bad guys have some rape-the-dog moments just to show you how irredeemably bad they are (in case you're too stupid to figure it out).

^I don't know... that annoys me sometimes.. but I can get just as easily annoyed when "the good" guys do something pretty effed up that they think is justifiable.

ex: I watched Lucky Number Slevin again today (fucking love that movie) and once again was reminded how sure, Josh Hartnet's character was right to kill Kingsley and Freeman... but to kill that Nick guy, totally effed up. He was simply a person he killed to get to the other guys and not part of his families death.

Bad ass...and brilliant..sure.. but it takes away from a pure revenge story and brings in the "eye for an eye" factor. I mean, now "Nick's relative...whover" is just as right to go and kill these guys I find myself rooting for

-guy dates boss' daughter

-cool guy falls for outcast girl

-when a movie has a stupid kung fu scene thats supposed to be comical and the actor always has some embellished stance and theyll say something like heeyaaaa or waaaaaaaa and dance around like an idiot

-have any of you ever noticed how in movies like american pie and van wilder the music is always exactly the same especially in the opening sequences and as they transition to party scene's? its kind of like this non-descript rock music that like 3 chords and some guy with a whiny voice.

Or after getting frustrated trying to find a password the hacker gets up and walks over to a picture or toy or something and reads the password off of it and then it takes them like 30 seconds to figure it out.

When an asshole snob character insults someone old or disabled, and the main character confronts him and his group and kicks their ass (this happens in every Sandler or Farrelly Bros movie).

Rushing to the airport to catch your true love before they head off with someone else, and in the process running into lots of complications in the airport that slow you down. Then getting to the plane at the very last second and confessing something to them that makes them jump you right then and there.

Good guy is with bad guy, but doesn't know bad guy is bad

Good guy leaves, bad guy calls another bad guy RIGHT then and is like "they're on their way" or something like that

Not a movie, but Walker Texas Ranger has so many clichés that it cracks me up.

So that I actually include something that annoys me though...like others said, it drives me crazy when every southern character in a movie is portrayed as a loveable but unintelligent hick or as somebody that should be just walking off of the set of Deliverance. gah. People can be southern acting and not stupid. Anyway.

Father hates daughter's boyfriend and doesn't want them to be together. A situation arises where one person will probably have to die. Father sacrifices himself to save the dude he hates for his daughter's sake.

No. I watched Poseidon last night, and the same thing happened, which got me to thinking it's bordering on a cliche.

Movies with lame condescending twists that insult the intelligence and complexity of the audience. I cite pretty much everything ever touched, worked on, or looked at by M. Night Shyamalan. The kind of suprise ending I'm talking about is the one that's actually still a suprise because you thought about it 2 minutes into the movie and then dismissed it because that would be so ungodly pathetic and retarded that even the fat popcorn gobbler sitting next to you wouldn't write it into their plot. Lo and behold, 1-2 hours later the idiotic idea you dismissed to the dark corners of your mind is staring back at you from the movie screen. WATER?! WATER KILLS THEM?!?!

In any romantic comedy, when girl finds out about the secret guy had which was the basis for the original interest in girl, girl decides that it is so tramatic that she must leave town forever, and guy has to chase her down and profess his love to her in an airport, on a bridge, etc, with a shitload of people watching.
