Met a person the other night who was in a wheelchair. Person was put in said wheelchair by a drunk driver. Person proceeded to get drunk and drive home.

Probably survived, but still, that's a pretty goddamn epic [fail]

^ that's pretty bizarre

I wonder though what their reasoning is?

They must be extremely dependent on the alcohol, or alcohol must be that great.

I just got drunk and walked home. I even bumped into like two people. In the rain, I can't control my drunken actions and feel way immoral.

^^In the interests of full disclosure, I don't actually know how much she had to drink. I showed up late and didn't know her from Adam's housecat. However, there was an EMT there who seemed convinced that the amount was far higher than it should be for her to be driving.

"'Hello 911? I'm driving drunk'

By JAMES MacPHERSON
Associated Press Writer

Posted: Jan. 2 6:13 p.m.
Updated: Jan. 2 6:16 p.m.

BISMARCK, N.D. — Police get calls about drunken drivers all the time, but rarely do they come from the alleged offender. A 17-year-old girl in Bismarck called 911 on New Year's Eve "to report herself driving under the influence," police Lt. Randy Ziegler said. "I've never heard of such a thing happening, and neither has anyone here."

The girl told authorities her location shortly before midnight Wednesday and officers found her in a parked car near downtown, Ziegler said. She failed a sobriety test and was arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle while intoxicated.

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was not cited for drunken driving, Ziegler said.

"Her keys were in her purse and she was parked," Ziegler said. "She did tell us that she had been driving around for hours."

The call probably was a plea for help, he said.

"She told us her life was spiraling out of control, and she had spent the majority of time drinking over the past two weeks," Ziegler said.

The girl was released to her parents Thursday."

drunk driving pisses me off more than anything

seriously, if you are too sorry to get a DD or a cab to take you home, keep your ass at home and drink there.

"One of my friends in high school pulled out in front of a drunk driver on his way to school one morning. From what he said there was nothing the guy could have done to avoid the collision and it was all his fault, but his insurance didn't pay the guy for the damages and the guy got a DUI conviction out of the deal. They basically shared the fault or something since the other guy was drunk. It's just another reason not to drive drunk. You might be able to control your car, but you'll still go to jail as soon as some dumbass high school kid pulls out in front of you, you smack a deer, or another drunk side swipes you."

exactly. sucks for the good drivers out there

"LARGO, Fla. — Authorities charged a man with driving under the influence early Monday after police pulled him over for driving a car with only three tires. Police said an officer spotted a 27-year-old man driving without a rear passenger tire.

The officer reported that the man displayed uneven balance and had bloodshot eyes. A Breathalyzer test he took registered a 0.2 blood alcohol level.

The man was charged with DUI and later released on his own recognizance."

Bump for importance.

Also, if you don't have $20 to get a cab, don't go out to the bar. That's not difficult.

"EL DORADO, Ark. -- Police in Arkansas say a drunken man stole a parked school bus and then asked a woman if she wanted to go for a ride.

Police say 44-year-old Joseph P. Fannin faces theft and driving while intoxicated charges for the incident Friday night. He remains held on $5,000 bond.

Police say Fannin took an El Dorado School District bus parked near a bar and left it in a motel driveway. They say a woman called them after Fannin asked if she wanted a ride.

Police say Fannin told them he'd been kicked out of the bar and got into the bus because it was "a warm, dry place."

The school district says the driver was out of town and that the keys must've been left behind.

The public defender's office didn't immediately return a message left Wednesday."

Just because I'm right doesn't meant I'm trolling. You think I'm kidding around? What the hell do you think happens to alcoholics and addicts who try to go cold turkey on their own after a close-call? THEY BINGE.

You don't think he's an alcoholic? He was busted for DUI and regularly drinks 3 times what it took to get him to that point. That sounds like alcoholism to me.

So this guy is obviously an alcoholic if regularly kicks back a 6 pack.

Just shut the fuck up you worthless ass clown. This is not Chit Chat. You can stop pretending to be serious, we can see right through your fake banter about these topics. A guy as smart as you apparently were in engineering isn't this abjectly retarded about common social topics. You don't give a shit about this stuff you discuss. You get your pea nut little jollies over seeing people get worked up by your comments (you're practically splooging with this reply and we're only about half way through it). You've been doing this shit for years. Have you not grown up yet? Well...I guess some guy that crafts an alias and fakes like he is going to commit suicide has some real attention issues, don't you?

Bottom line, its all fake as fuck. If you were to trademark the technique, it would be called Amsterdam718 it's so fake.

No, it's not. The only time I've ever been breathalyzed was after 8 beers over a couple of hours and I blew a .07 and passed all the field tests. (The cop pulled me because I "squeeled my tires" pulling out from a stoplight. I made no moving violations for the 2 miles he tailed me, and the shit didn't pull me over until I was in my own driveway)

1 beer/glass of wine/shot = +.02
1 hour after drinking = -.02

bullshit... You can go back through years of my posting and see that I've always come down extremely critical of drunk drivers. They are scum to me and I wish that there was something we could do to increase the penalties for drunk driving. If it was just a persona, I wouldn't have called the cops many times IRL on people that I suspected of drunk driving.

I guess its just mind boggling for some people to consider the fact that drunk driving is not cool or socially acceptable to some people.

"4 injured after drunk drivers collide in Wisconsin

Posted: Apr. 11 4:55 p.m.

RACINE, Wis. — Police in Wisconsin say four people were injured after a drunk driver hit another drunk driver in Racine.

Police say one drunk driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street when he missed a turn and went the wrong way on another street around 2:40 a.m Saturday. He hit two parked cars, rolled over and hit an oncoming car driven by another drunk driver.

Lt. Mike Polzin says none of injuries are considered life threatening.

He says a 27-year-old Pleasant Prairie man was cited for causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and a 35-year-old Racine man was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated."

Driving teacher allegedly drunk during lesson

Posted: Today at 7:46 p.m.
Updated: Today at 7:51 p.m.

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. — A driving instructor who police say was drunk while giving someone a driving lesson can stay out of jail but will lose his license for a year. Daniel Winsky, 53, of Salem was convicted Thursday of operating under the influence while giving a lesson from the passenger seat of a car. He was sentenced to 18 months probation but won't be a licensed driver for one year.

Winsky was not behind the wheel during the December 2007 lesson in Ipswich, but prosecutors say he was in control of the passenger side brakes in the specially-fitted car and also moved the wheel during the lesson.

Police pulled Winsky over shortly after a convenience store clerk smelled alcohol on his breath, then saw him enter the auto school's car. Winsky claimed he was not drunk during the lesson."

So my roommate continually drives drunk. I've never seen anyone as drunk as he was last night when he and his buddy got back from wherever they'd been drinking. He's a loud and obnoxious drunk, which makes helping him not fun. I've talked to him about this a couple times and how he is a giant idiot for driving drunk, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any suggestions?
