It's not too bad

Not so great, but definitely not bad.

I Was kind of pissed because I wanted to take my bf, and it was ~1230 on a hotass july day...and they were closed. wtf are they thinking, closing during the hottest part of the day, in the hottest month?

I tried this with the hubby and it was pretty cool. He got a mexican chocolate pop, which I didn't think would be good, but I really liked it. It had cinnamon and nutmeg, which reminded me of my family's Christmas treats.

I had one of the fruity ones, which was good as well.

Each pop is $2, cash only, so that kinda sucks b/c I never have cash on me. Otherwise def. something fun to try.

Probably not the best company to use as an example considering they just had to close 600 stores. There's also a bit more equipment and ingredients that go into the $4.50 espressoccinomocha crap they make there. I think people feel less ripped off if its something most of them couldn't make at home. Frozen kool-aid and juice though? Maybe people are assuming these pops are simpler than they actually are; probably still something anyone with a decently stocked fridge and spice cabinet could whip up.

There is something to be said about the ability to make a good profit selling something that's almost free to people at insane markups. Bottled water is probably a better example. I get an intense urge to beat people over the head when I see them buying $3-5 bottles of artesian spring water. It's like part of me is screaming "GET OUT OF MY GENE POOL!"

Red, Hot and Blue is where Darryl's used to be. Locopops is on the left side of Red, Hot and Blue when standing on Hboro street, where the old jewelery store used to be

^ perhaps...hillsborough st is more often the death knell for a business than its savior

that said, if you haven't tried it, you should...they have some seriously odd and yet very interesting flavors, and of the dozen i've tried, i've only been "meh" about one of them

yeah, they're pretty delicious...and like others have said they already have successful stores in Durham and Chapel Hill so it's not like it's an unproved business plan

locopops aren't available for cheaper in grocery stores and most are original flavors that I haven't seen other places.

I've tried to go there twice recently. First time it was closed and deserted, despite it being 1:05 and the door listing noon as the opening time. Second, it was bustling, but I realized I had no cash.

It's good though. I've been to the one in Hillsborough, and was quite pleased with the pop (had Orange Apricot). $2 isn't bad either. I hope it sticks around, though I agree it's not the best location in the world.

What, a place that gets cold in the winter isn't a good location?

Maybe they'll change to LocoCoco in the winter.

I had the sesame, chocolate, wasabi one once. It tastes exactly like it sounds, yet it was strangely delicious.
