Wait, so that broad is trying to get random people to give her money so she can start her own business? WTF? I mean if she can do it fine but who the fuck would donate money to that? It isn't like we are talking about a non-profit organization set up to help those who are less fortunate, we are talking about a for profit company that tons of other people have started without asking for handouts. That just screams laziness and is pretty pathetic IMO. Sure lots of people need help starting their own business but getting help from family/friends is a lot different from expecting random people to do the hard work for you.

I mean...as much as I want to, I can't hate on her at all. There are plenty of other people in this world (models mainly), that get much more money for doing less work. If the idea works, go for it.

It makes me wonder if she has already tried the investor route. Because with those looks and personality, I'm sure some millionaire would loan her $200k to start her own gym and at least get a kickback. This is a sweet deal to own everything 100% and not owe anyone money.

My CrossFit days are behind me. Or at least , numbered, for now.

That's the whole basis behind indiegogo and kickstarter. You raise money because you are not willing to risk everything to start a business/create a product. It used to be necessary to almost go broke to start something and then have a small chance to become successful. Now it's just throwing up an idea on one of these funding sites and let everyone else pay to do it.

On topic, I'm still not sold on crossfit. The cost of joining a crossfit gym is just stupid to begin with, and I'm also more interesting in putting on some size. I don't need something else to cause my metabolism to be even higher. A ton of people swear by it though, and I've seen plenty of videos with guys that are completely jacked doing this stuff...who knows.

Maybe when I finally move to SC I'll change it up and look into something like this instead of a typical gym.

joined this one http://www.crossfitrva.com/

its about 5 minutes away from my house. they have pretty decent rates as well. got the 3x/week option.

i believe they also changed their name from crossfitRVA to performanceRVA. in addition to crossfit they offer training specifically for powerlifting and strongman competitions. thats pretty much what interested me considering that i am also keeping my membership at Golds

They came up with some pretty creative WODs this year. My fave was the 400m -bar muscle up-split snatch. Only because I love running+lifting combos

Stacie Tovar should leave the porn star makeup off while she is working out though lol

Going to the Outlaw training camp in September. Outlaw is headed by Rudy Neilson, who's programming got about a dozen competitors and a handful of teams to the games.

Talayna Fortunado will be there as a coach...super excited.

We've been doing a bunch of the Girl's workouts this week.(Elizabeth, Grace on Monday and Tuesday, and Fran tomorrow).

Yesterday we warmed up with Cindy
Cindy, 5 rounds
Pull-ups, 5 reps
Push-ups, 10 reps
Air Squat, 15 reps

Then 10 minutes of Snatch Ladder work

Then
“Diane” 3 Rounds (21-15-9):
Deadlift, 225/185#
Handstand Push-ups

Finished Cindy in 4:45 and Diane in 7:45. Really happy with my Cindy time. Only thing to slow me down are the air squats.

Our workout today was “Zombie Apocalypse”

Resisted Run - 5 x 40m (Train to outrun zombies…or other survivors.)

AMRAP Circuit - 2 x 5 stations (1:00 work intervals/0:30 rest/transition intervals)
Calorie Row (Train to escape a zombie-infested beach/shoreline.)
Standard Hand-Placement Deload Pushup (Train to fend off a ravenous zombie or force a door closed.)
Rocket Jump (Train to reach a low-hanging branch or the bottom rung of a fire escape.)
Sledgehammer Strike (Train to kill a zombie or break down a door.)
KB Farmer’s Walk - 20m segments (Train to carry food, water, and ammo.)

Zombie Escape Run - 4 x 300m (2:30 to complete run/rest)
basically slower people become zombies and do penalty burpees

^^^That's why I pay for my trainers to program the workouts. I kind of just trust that they know how many short and long metcons should be programed.

^^That's great! Who says crossfit doesn't train you for specific activities?

^Our box has scheduled 31 heroes for the following weekend. But yeah, I am signed up.Trying to get more to join me.

I typically don't program anything over 12 minutes, unless it's a holiday and we're doing a hero WOD. Right now we do one longer WOD a week (on Saturday RIGHT before our rest day).

When I switch the template to Westside for strength we will no longer be doing anything over 12 minutes. I'll probably mix back in longer stuff 2 months before the Opens start next year so that everyone is ready for all time domains.

The recognition of the name is high on the list, but the truth is I love being part of the community. Could we do it without the CrossFit name? Probably, but we'd miss out on a Lot of people who are interested in trying it. It really isn't any more complicated than that.

thoughts on this?

50 foot Farmer’s Carry (205/145)
15 Axle Ground to Overheads (135/95)
50 foot Prowler Push (115)
15 Atlas Stone Squats (110/80)

Start with a 400m run. Pick any order of stations/do what’s available. Do a 400m run between each station. Finish with a 400m run. Prosper.

Looks heavy, and a Strong Man inspired WOD. Are you new to CF? If not, I don't think a trainer should incorporate any Strong Man stuff until technique is perfected.

21-15-9

joined this crossfit gym about a month ago. been training powerlifting for a few years now though. that was last nights workout. i posted the 3rd best time of the entire day, and i agree with you about the strong man stuff. that was the first time i had ever touched an atlas stone. i imagine that a lot of other people were not used to some of those techniques either. i did the rx weights but it seemed like scaling was an afterthought when they made that wod.

so far im liking crossfit but i approach it as secondary to my regular training and strength progression. i have my regular training sessions 4 days a week and then go to crossfit the other 3.

That sounds shitty. I imagine it gets brutal at about minute 6.

Today's WOD
7 Rounds:
10 jump squats (45 barbell)
12 pullups
20 netter press (25lb plate)

14:07

Not too bad compared to last Monday's triceps explosion.

What is wrong with the WOD?

I really don't see anything wrong with dedicating a class session for a skill that almost everyone need to work on. DUs take time and practice. And pretty sure after 20 min, it should become apparent that it's a respiratory exercise as well. I don't think it's a completely useless WOD in that respect.

I am not saying a WOD like this should pop up frequently, but it does force students to work on the skill.

^^I wouldn't be stoked to get to the gym and see that as the WOD, but I do agree there is value in it. EVERYONE sucks at DU's at first, and at least 75% of the members can use a LOT of practice. I'm pretty terrible at them, only managing to get a DU after 2 or 3 regular skips (I can't string them together just yet) and I'm still better than a lot of folks.

It'd be a lot easier to stomach seeing that WOD if there was just a single other exercise. If you're going for cardio/legs, throw some box jumps or burpees in there just to make it look like the trainer didn't take an off day.
