"Feds disrupt skinhead plot to assassinate Obama

WASHINGTON – Two white supremacists allegedly plotted to go on a national killing spree, shooting and decapitating black people and ultimately targeting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, federal authorities said Monday.
In all, the two men whom officials describe as neo-Nazi skinheads planned to kill 88 people — 14 by beheading, according to documents unsealed in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community."

What do yall think?

Should "threatening a candidate for president" really be a federal crime?

Have at it!

well, I think threatening a candidate already is a crime... not really a question here, buddy. I see what you are trying to do, but you failed miserably

Yes, but is it a just law? Smacks of prior restraint.

Come on, I want a lively debate!

well the last assassination plot, in Denver, was widely laughed at by the neo-cons here. Will we have the same reaction to these two jerks?

How long can they get locked up for this? They're clearly a threat to society, but it doesn't look like they've actually committed any major felonies yet, unless "threatening a presidential candidate" counts and can get you thrown in jail for the rest of your life.

or will they be let go in a couple days and deemed harmless and "too incompetent to kill anyone", like the guys in Denver were?

Threatening? No. But conspiracy should be. It sounds like these guys had a somewhat detailed plan, and had already taken action to carry it out. Good enough for me.

You are all very narrow minded. you see the word Obama and you focus all your attention on that garbage. Yet you over looked the part where they threatened to kill 88 people. Now correct me if i'm wrong here but are they saying obama counts as 88 kills? lets lock them up for the 88 people NOT the threat on obama.

^^^^ I hate to see the depths the GOP has sunk to but even I have to admit that was kind of funny. Inappropriate, but funny.

^^^
1) see: "They're clearly a threat to society"
2) if that helps keep them locked away, fine

^^ ah, yes.... the old "they're too incompetent to actually hurt anybody" argument. Good to see that one coming out.
So, out of the hundreds or thousands of people who profess a desire to kill Obama for whatever reason, how many of them does it take to be competent enough for the deed to be done?

you missed the point entirely. Its not 'if that helps fine' its the fact that IS the issue and the crime here. Threatening death to 88 individuals. Who cares about the obama part...he's well protected I assure you...these 88 innocent people are not. So they shouldn't even be discussing Obama.

they actually threatened to kill 103 people.

88 + 14 + obama.

apparently they were going to shoot up a high school for the 88, then behead 14 -- then drive full speed with guns blazing and wearing white suits and top hats on their way to get Obama.

they should be prosecuted for threatening to kill 103 people. everything else is just details.

FWIW,

that skinhead in the pic looks like a little pussy who got beat up one too many times in school.

Ah, yes... I forgot its mostly dems on here. Sorry, but I do have a very hard time seeing these two skinheads, dressed in white coats and top hats with automatic weapons making it past secret service agents and getting a shot at obama... call me a realist. These two are nothing more than idiot trash. Sure they need to be taken seriously, but just like the SS said, "they were not a credible threat." well no shit.

i dont think they were too incompetent to go shoot up a high school.

or, are you just so blinded by your hatred of obama, that you think "taking him out" would be worth 102 high school kids.

This guy wasn't a credible threat either: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/03/AR2007060301380.html yet the right hyped him up pretty big.
