I don't think you need a passport to enter Canada; you'll need documentation to get back into the US though.

If you fly, you need a passport. If you drive, you'll just need a picture ID and proof of citizenship

Just bring your passport. Last thing you want is to get inconvenienced because some guy at the border is having a bad day.

i have my passport but my other two friends dont have one but i checked the website and if you drive across all you need is a drivers license and a birth certificate

also, i just txted my friend getting married, her fiance (who has never met either one of them) does not want them at the wedding. we have known her for 14 years, he has known her for 3 months.

FUCK HIM, I AM BRINGING THEIR ASSES TO THE WEDDING

no, seriously, fuck him

she is 21, marrying a 40yo who lives with his mother and is a bar tender, no one from her family is going to the wedding b/c they all know why she's doing this and know its going to be a disaster, we're the only ones supporting her and i'll be damned if he says we're not coming, that fucking loser

I mean, I guess I see where you're coming from and all

I'm just saying that when I get married, I would expect to have some say in who does and does not attend. Sure it's "The brides special day", but at the same time it's pretty disrespectful to ignore the groom's opinion.

but at the same time

why wouldn't any sane person want your bride's friends, whom you've never met, to come to your wedding?

unless you are hell raisers or something

he has never met them! not a single person is coming from "her side" and he is saying that they cant come, but i can come. what am i supposed to do? go to canada by myself and sit around with a bunch of old people? he said that they couldnt come because they were "too dependent" on her and they should not contact her so much

I'm not saying he's right in any way by saying they can't come to the wedding. It all depends on his reasoning for not wanting them to be there (sounds like it's a shitty one).
Still, it's his special day too. That's all I'm saying.

with that said, I hope you all have a fantastic time!!1
If you all end up around my way in upstate NY (few hours from Canada), be sure to stop in and hang out for a little bit!

WE will have an awesome time

and WE will arrive and remain inappropriately drunk at her wedding and HE is gonna just deal with it.

sorry, but im putting my foot down. i just asked her who was coming from her family and friends and all she replied was "you" so im bringing whoever the hell i want.

....yeah, that's what I was implying by saying "you all" instead of "you"
I figured your plans were dead set from the start anyway, haha

I don't, chemdick. But it's nice to know you're capable of using google maps! your parents must be so fucking proud of you!!1 I guess that college education paid off, eh?

but when people are driving, sometimes it's actually helpful to go out of your way in order to get to a place where you can sit down and relax for a minute.

for example, when I used to drive from Norfolk, Va to Charlotte, NC, I'd usually go out of my way to hang out in raleigh for a bit....just to hang out with friends and relax

understandable

but raleigh isn't that far out of the way on the way from norfolk to charlotte. it's actually on the way.

going to owego would incur a few more miles, yes, but a lot more hours, having to go through DC and Baltimore

Binghamton/Vestal actually

but...I could save over an hour without stopping in raleigh....staying on 58 until I passed south hill and picked up the interstate.

anyway, besides the point. MY OFFER STILL STANDS!

OMG skewfield is coming here on friday. I hope she doesn't beat me up

If/when the official asks 'does anyone object to this union', you must, must, must, MUST speak up.

It sounds like he's intentionally isolating her, and that's a very big red flag, not only because it shows a complete and utter lack of respect and concern for her, but also because that's the first step abusive significant others take.

I hope you've kept IM logs and shit. They may come in handy later, in an anullment: your friend is clearly not of sound mind at the present time.

because i know everyone cares

update:

we didnt end up going because she eventually stopped returning our calls
i did get a hold of her to tell her we werent coming because we hadnt heard from her and she seemed ok with that. myself and my two friends have still tried to get in touch with her after the wedding to see how it went, still nothing.

some of her family members have tried calling her now husbands phone and he is most likely blocking their calls and not telling her they're calling.

i found out today that she called some girl she barely knows who was trashing her earlier this month and i TOLD her about it. yet she does not call ME to tell me about the wedding... so i sent her a nasty text telling her she sucked.

uh... yeah... thats about it, should i feel guilty about being a bitch?

Toronto is fucking awesome, especially if you like strip clubs and gambling.

I went to strip clubs in Toronto the last time I was in Buffalo with a friend of mine. Yeah, that was 3 years ago, and I have not been to an American strip club since. They pale in comparison.
