If anyone is interested in a watch, let me know- we carry citizen, bulova, seiko, swiss army, movado, ESQ, and Tissot. Hopefully we will get Baume et Marcier.

You bastard, I almost bought the same one but with a blue bezel a few weeks ago when I saw a good price.

I think I'm going to try to hold out until the end of the year and then spring for an IWC or GMT. A Stowa Flieger is also on the list, though I'd have to go for an automatic at this point. Apparently the guy who handmade their gorgeous manual movements keeled over dead about a month ago so the wait list went from one year to god knows how long.

^hmm, I've never seen one with blue bezel before. You sure you didn't look at the "bond" model? I love the Seamaster GMT model as well. I have this one below. One of my favorite watches.

^^ Isn't the Bond model the all black one? I really can't keep up as people have taken to calling all Seamasters Bond watches and Omega has started putting all of their Seamaster models in Bond films.

The original Omega Bond watch is the blue seamaster pro, like the one in the pic below. Omega has recently came out with the black version. They also put the planet ocean in the recent movies.

Damn, I guess that is a Bond.

When Omega got the movie rights and replaced Rolex as the Bond watch for Goldeneye they would put one of their watches on him for the whole movie and do one or two really obvious shots of it. In the new Daniel Craig ones they've taken to putting him in several different Seamasters and doing their best to cash in on it. In Casino Royale they even went so far as to have him say that he wears on Omega, not a Rolex.

I can't decide if it's savvy marketing or just Ian Fleming's heirs whoring out.

Well I did it. Had a great weekend with work then went out and picked myself up a Rolex GMT Master II today.

So much for waiting until Christmas.

Love the new ceramic bezel.

The Datejust II came out about a week ago. They bumped the size of the face up to 41mm and put on a scalloped bezel. It's a good looking watch, but I'd already tortured myself enough over this one.

I'd love to get myself a Deep Sea Dweller, but I'm trying to save money to buy a house now. Picked this one up last week.

I just ordered a watch box. Will post my full collection inside the box when it arrives.

hey guys

two part question:

1.) what are some normal symptoms of a tag hueur battery on it's end of life? I didnt take the tag with me this weekend on vacation, came home last night, and it's acting all funky. second hand doesn't move for like, 5 seconds, then skips ahead. Also running slow. Watch is about 3.5 years old, i read somewhere regular life span is approx 2 years. sound like a battery?

2.) what's the expected price for replacement? googling tells me everything from $15 to $400.

I'd rather have an authorized dealer do it, but some sites indicated that to do this they had to ship back to tag for battery and seal replacement and pressure test. ideally, i'd like to not have a month+ without the watch and to have to shell out a fourth of the original cost of the piece.

There's a shop in Cameron Village that did my buddy's Tag, I can't remember the name though.

maybe you should ask QTPie, she works for a jeweler.

You need to tell us which Tag model you have. Also, any qualified watchmaker can replace the battery and seal for you for less than $100.

Porsche family auctioning off watch collection

Quote :
"Times are tough for the Porsche family. Amidst the merger with Volkswagen, their company just suffered a $6.6 billion loss. But we didn't think things were this bad for the descendants of Ferdinand Porsche until Bonhams announced they would be liquidating that family's watch collection to the highest bidder.

Okay, we're exaggerating just a bit. The Porsche family stands to make a lot of money out of the Volkswagen merger, and the collection is being auctioned off for charity. And while we have no idea what charity that is, we have to assume it's not the Porsche family themselves.

As it turns out, the family's interests extend beyond the automobile. Not only does their Porsche Design Group have its own range of watches, but some fourteen years ago they bought Eterna, one of the largest independent watchmakers in Switzerland. Eterna fabricates Porsche Design watches as well as their own brand, and several of the rarest examples will be included along with others among the 49 watches crossing the auction block on December 2 in London.

Among those pieces Bonhams is highlight are included a rare 18kt gold Porsche Design prototype and an Eterna presented to family scion Ferdinand Oliver Porsche on his 40th birthday, along with rare timepieces from Rolex and Omega as well as Panerai (which makes watches for arch-rival Ferrari), Jaeger LeCoultre (which partners with Aston Martin) and Breitling (in league with Bentley)."

"Madoff ‘Prisoner’ Rolex Sale Won’t Calm Swiss Time Town’s Ire

Nov. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Bernard Madoff’s Rolex “prisoner watch” will be auctioned tomorrow in New York. The name has nothing to do with Madoff’s current status as inmate No. 61727- 054 at Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina.

The 18-carat gold chronograph, model 3525, gained its moniker because Rolex offered similar timepieces to prisoners of war in Germany during World War II, including those involved in “The Great Escape.” It is one of 27 Swiss-made watches that the U.S. Marshals Service plans to sell as it seeks to recover assets for Madoff’s victims.

I just got this one over the weekend:

Omega Seamaster 3520.53.00

Around 10 years old. Looks/Runs great. It's not a very expensive watch, compared to a Rolex, but it's just so freakin neat. Valjoux 7750 (Cal 1151) based movement.

Thinking about getting the Rolex GMT II - it sounds like a good deal and it's in 90% condition with the ceramic bezel. Dunno yet.

^nice looking Omega you got there. The Valjoux 7750 movement should be real reliable and easy to find parts for. I still haven't owned a Speedmaster yet, surprisingly considering my affinity for Omega. Maybe one day, hopefully soon.

The coaxial escapement on your planet ocean is a really good one, I'd stick with that. That is, unless you realllllllly have to have a speedmaster. I dig the planet ocean's 10 year service interval.
