The problem with the pictures that are generally used as examples of STD infections is that they are "Worst Case Scenario." What they do not tell you is that most of these pictures are severe infections that are generally present in immune compromised individuals. They are not realistic representations of what the ordinary person would encounter if they were to contract an STD.

Unfortunately, this results in a lot of kids who have an STD or encounter a partner with an STD and they don't even know it because they're expecting some kind of horror fest like you see in these pictures.

I have friends who have had herpes, syphilis, HPV, and trich. Two of them in monogamous relationships who got it from their partner who unknowingly brought it into the relationship. All of them really average kids who aren't promiscuous. All very uninformed and very shocked that they had STD/STI.



Sorry, I am a bit of a crusader when it comes to these kinds of issues.
