My lust for balance and sinister distaste for religion makes me wonder if, after 18 normal children, there wasn't at least one grotesque, defective, or downy-imperfect birth that was sealed in an oil drum and buried at one of their industrial projects. ^^ It wouldn't be surprising if some of the younger kids have medical issues. I used to work with guy who came from a family who followed something similar to Quiverful. He said the youngest siblings all had various problems like being deaf or severe asthma, etc.

I know this seems weird nowadays, but it seems like some of you think this has never happened before


my girlfriends grandma was the first of 16, so guess what, she was mom #2, and had a (large) part in raising all of the other 15. they lived in rural wilkes county, and all of those kids did their part around the house, and all of them grew up to be (relatively) normal. hell no, i don't want 16 or 18 kids, but this just doesnt seem all that extreme to me???

Agreed. I mean, a Jesus fetish and a lot of children don't appeal to me, but they appear to be, at the least, no less irresponsible than parents who have children to fill the meaningless vacuum that is their lives and proceed to trust the raising of their progeny to the commercial ventures of others.

I imagine most of the anger in this thread is directed not at their decision to have many children, but their, again apparent, happiness. We're only human, we want freaks like this to fail.
