^Yes, and if you won your district, then the majority of your constituency voted for you.

So if 30% of your district wants you to do something (all of whom voted for you) and the majority don't, what do you do?

I saw some excerpts from an interview with her about her support for the ACA her blog and twitter and they were unintentionally hilarious. Apparently she doesn't understand at all the law she supports.

I doubt that anyone here has actually read the entire law, so it's pretty likely that no one really understands it beyond what they've picked up from secondary sources. If you have read the entire law and it wasn't required as part of your job, then you need to pick up some new hobbies.

You can have a good understanding of it without reading the actual text if you use good sources to learn about it.

You're nuts if you think even a decent percentage of people know what's going on. Heck, I'd venture a good number of the people that actually passed the law don't even really know.

i think there are a lot more supporters who understand it than there are opponents. if there are not, then why are so few of the complaints based on actual things?

He probably didn't know. Kind of like he didn't know that we have been tapping the phones of our allies for the last decade.

Which one is it, idiot or liar?

Most likely liar, but I'm sure he never expected to NSAs darkest secrets to be revealed either.

The US has always spied, and likely will always spy, just like it has always tortured. We should never try to publicly justify it, always publicly condemn it, and work to keep leaks about it from coming out (because we're going to do it anyway).

I actually appreciate Obama handling this by pretending it was wrong to do and promising to stop (in certain circumstances), rather than the republican response to torture allegations of pretending torture isn't torture, then publicly saying how torture was a good thing.

If that's how he actually feels, and believes, then he should pardon Snowden.

i'm pretty sure it's safe to say that the U.S. has always spied on allies. And every politician everywhere lies or isn't completely truthful some of the time. it's the nature of politics. they're all slimy.

Moron says lock up the whistleblower. Are you against freedom of the press as well? What do you think of our classification system? Just right, huh? Your line of establishment thinking bothers me.

wat?

I didn't have a problem with the GWB-run government spying on other countries. My point is that conservatives complaining about spying are hypocrites.

On Sunday, the White House unilaterally halted a National Security Agency spying program which monitored the phone communications of 35 world leaders. On Monday, the hosts of Fox & Friends said that all countries have foreign surveillance programs and that President Barack Obama should “stop apologizing” for the NSA targeting foreign interests.

No, this thread exists to debate his credibility.

One side suddenly lost this ability-

This thread is useless; I personally dont want to see anyone embarrass themselves defending this person.

Not "me," and Republicans arent "winners," but Obama definitely loses.

These threads should be folded and all Soapbox attention should just be diverted to November.

He probably didn't want to know, and knew he didn't want to know, which means he pretty much knew but never "really" knew.

It's plausible deniability.
