nvm just watched it

meh i'll give it 1-2 more shows to judge it but i wasn't a big fan of this one at all
it had a couple of strong moments but i expected too many of those jokes for them to be funny

it was totally stupid. If I wanted to watch Steve Carrel, I'd watch him and not tina fey.

I missed the first 10 minutes, but the last 20 didn't really do it for me. And yeah, it kinda felt like they were directing Amy Poehler as if she were Steve Carrel.

you know a show sucks when you fully expect going into it that it will suck... and then its even worse than you expected

It was ok. I'll give it some faith for a month or so.

Of course I'm not crazy in love with it like I currently am with Office and 30 Rock, but I felt the same way about those shows the first time I saw them. I went into it with low expectations, which is probably the opposite of what most people do when they first watch shows that are "BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE CREATORS OF (insert fav show here)".

watched most of it for the first time tonight......

i think they didn't realize that you can't just put a camera in any old office situation with slightly strange or incompetent people and expect it to be funny.

I was utterly disappointed. I loved her on SNL though.

Tina Fey's 30 Rock is alright. I do watch that although I rarely lol watching it. I might chuckle now and then. I think I really watch it just to see Tina Fey. She's hot in every way.

30 Rock is the best comedy on network TV (two most recent episodes not withstanding)

Terrible.

Amy Poehler was actually a little funny in Upright Citizens Brigade, but that may just be because, as the only girl, she was in every skit.

i didn't think the first ep was completely awful so i watched again last night.

ugh, it's like the office but much dumber. it's actually kinda frustrating for me. i don't think it will last.

The dry mid-level dude with the mustache who never smiles is hilarious.

He was also the only good thing on American Body Shop (is that still on Comedy Central?). That actor is just great doing deadpan.

^yeah, i kinda like that guy and the indian dude. if they didn't make amy's character so fucking stupid all the time it might be a little better.

i pretty much like everyone except amy poehler. and i agree she's obviously trying to hard to be a female michael scott.

i hope that if this doesn't work out (seems likely) that paul schneider will find another comedy show to be a part of. i loved him in all the real girls and think that he can be really funny in a very genuine and realistic way.

Someone just needs to make a weekly clip show of all of the scenes with Aziz in them. That way you could get the 2 minutes of humor all at once instead of sitting through the rest of the show.

I watched the pilot episode on XBOX Live, and it was OK. I thought there were some highs and lows, and a lot of it was forced. All and all, I want to see where this goes. Probably nowhere, but we'll see. Oh yeah, BOBBY KNIGHT!!! LOL!!!

yeah the 2nd episode was definitely better than the 1st

i'll give it a couple more for sure

amy poehler is not the best - she definitely is trying too hard to be stupid or something
but the other characters are pretty good imo

So I've come to the conclusion with some comparisons for Parks and Recreation and The Office.

Leslie = Michael Scott
Ann (Karen from The Office) = Pam
Mark (Leslie's love interest) = Ryan
Tom (Aziz) = Andy/Jim?
Ron (Leslie's boss) = ?
April (intern) = ?
Andy = Roy

the first episode of the office was the worst. it was shot for shot taken from the british version. it definitely took the writers 3 or 4 episodes before they really started writing for the cast that they had.

it was (almost) shot-for-shot, and it was still hilarious. I think the US episode 1 was better than the UK episode 1, if not only because most of the US characters are actually better actors, especially Steve Carrel over Ricky Gervais (not saying who is funnier or smarter or cooler or whatever, because that would be sacrilege for "office aficionados" - but he most definitely is a better actor, something Ricky would probably agree with)

if everyone who claims they "loved the British Office" before the American one started is actually telling the truth, then the BBC must be the most popular channel on cable...

I never saw the British version before seeing the American version, so that really wasn't a problem for me, but I'm still hearing:

The first few episodes of the Office sucked because I had already seen them before.
The first few episodes of Parks and Recreation sucked because they sucked.

no. parks and recreation sucks because i've seen it before (at least the main character). they need to start writing more for their current cast instead of trying to recreate the office in a local gov't setting.

i like the idea of a small town gov't setting. living in one, i've seen/heard a ton of crazy stupid crap come out of those public offices. i think it would make for good tv, i'd enjoy it, they just need to make a few tweaks.

just watched it last night.

The indian dude is the only funny character on this show.

And this has nothing at all to do with the fact that I am an american-raised indian with a western name.

i'm willing to give The Office a break when the cameras follow the characters outside of the office to events like parties.
but it makes no sense that cameras hang out in the couple with the broken legs' house.....

so.... you think they're going to go through with Leslie's man-cut? Or is her hair going to be back to normal next week like nothing ever happened?

oh, shit... n/m.
just watched to the end where they showed her hair was just styled that way, not cut.
