If you don't mind, that would be fantastic.. I just don't want to invade ya'lls lunch time though.

How have you been? It has been a while since I have said hi.

It's all good. It usually takes place down in dupont. I'm sure we can work something out.

I've been well. Just too damn busy lately. you-know-who keeps me pretty stacked with work during the week

How have you been?

shouldn't you consult with your better half before you go inviting new people to lunch?

^^ Luna I didn't know that you moved up here until recently. How long have you been in the area? How have you been? It has been a while since I have been on... BTW - it is completely your call. I will not invade your lunch hour if you do not want. I am still fairly new to the area and would love to tag-up to make friends in the area. Just let me know your thoughts.

founding farmers or depending on the day/time, the farragut square food trucks

Founding Farmers was booked up crazy far in advance unless I was missing something this weekend. We tried to do the e-check in and it was telling me the soonest they had a table for brunch was January 7th and the soonest for dinner was like the 14th

I don't know exactly where the World Bank is in comparison to here, but we had an absolutely fantastic lunch/brunch at Granville Moores

the world bank is near farragut square.

also it's restaurant week starting monday i believe. good luck.

[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 2:04 PM. Reason : .]

also she asked for lunch during the workweek. which is an entirely different crowd/demand than weekend brunch, which is usually always booked.

ive walked in and waited 20 minutes for a table on a weekday, so not awful. but that wasnt during restaurant week.

I definitely understand that, but after it (Founding Farmers) being booked all weekend I kept checking for lunch times during the week as well and that's when it told me it was already booked up until the 7th and through the 14th for dinner. So maybe it had something to do with restaurant week or their Open Table setup was just screwed up when I checked. (Or maybe just their maximum number of reservations was reached and they still have walk-ins?) Who knows.

it is 100% due to restaurant week.

Shit really? Well that sucks. I'll probably just hit up food trucks since I'll have limited time for lunch. Any truck in particular you recommend?

for the record i just walked over to my dentist's office on the other side of farragut square and there was one food truck out there. so good luck getting lunch.

I think there is a five guys at 17th and I or thereabouts, and then there is always the secret chic-fil-a at GW food court over near 23rd

I'm tryin' real hard to get up to DC soon, either working at USDA or on Capitol Hill. Failing that, maybe USPTO. If that doesn't work out I guess I'll camp out in Pullen Park and freeze to death.

maybe I dunno

I have people on the inside that were getting me thru a bunch of HR miscues/obstacles

they are still listing new positions though, I think

What kind of miscues/obstacles? The USAJobs.gov process seems needlessly complex for the purpose of weeding people out.

they'll be slow

I was rejected for GS-9 at first because I didn't have the education, yet I had emailed HR to tell them that I had the education, but the actual graduation ceremony hadn't taken place (thesis defense had been completed and I had told them that, as well as my 'unofficial' transcript that I attached to the application)

if you've already have your degrees and experience stuff settled for a while now, you should be alright

have you applied yet?

Yeah, the application is in. Still waiting on my transcript to arrive from UNC so I can upload it though, they are incredibly slow. I've emailed HR about it, but luckily they extended the cutoff date to Feb. 7 so maybe it'll arrive by then.

If you normally start at a GS7 when you have JD, will they also consider you for a GS5 if you check that you'd be willing to take it?

my friends at the USPTO started as GS-7s, got promoted to GS-9's after 6 months, and then they were GS-11s a year later. crazy. that's a sweet gig if you land it.

IIRC, they aren't hiring any GS-5 positions...so I don't think they'd just take you as a 5 instead of a 7

when did you apply, and I assume you applied for 7?
