^^^on the plus side you can start reading a new book or finish an old one you have put off!
may i suggest A Salty Piece of Land, by Jimmy Buffett or any of Lillian Jackson Braun's Cat Who mystery books. ooh! or Rainy by Clyde Edgerton.
^atleast you aren't marrying her just to end up having to divorce her

My last job I was making around $75k factoring in commissions
Now, even if I blew it out every month, I'd be lucky to hit $40k
And my base salary at my current job is about $10k less. 8/15/2009 1:30:48 PM |

-survived two rounds of layoffs at work, but the tension around the office is at an all time high and morale at an all time low. -paycuts just took effect at the first of this month. -trying to pretend all is well with the job situation and buy a house in the middle of the worst mortgage crisis ever. I'm totally emotionally detached from the whole process, nothing like the "OMG! THIS IS AN AWESOME PLACE!!" feeling that other people seem to get. I'm just meh about the whole thing. -need to do some work to my car or buy another one but putting it off until the house stuff is squared away -single for too long (think 10+ years) and lonely as hell. -social life in general is in the shitter. i'd rather just stay home than hang out with married couples on date night.
all in all, nothing major, but just not enjoying life, that's for sure. 8/15/2009 2:18:54 PM |

I met a girl who I have fallen for, head over heels. We hang out at least 3 times a week alone, even cuddle and smooch sometimes. Have been doing this for about 3 months now, and we were friends for a while before that. We met randomly at the mall and she gave me her number when I asked her out. The chemistry is definitely there.
But, she has a bf that doesn't treat her right. It sucks.

Banjoman, she will keep you as a side dish unless you find a main dish. Don't make things so easy for her. She won't leave her boy unless you give her a real reason to do so. Right now she's having her cake and eating it too. 8/15/2009 2:46:25 PM |

She's obviously not with the person she wants to be with but her relationship is probably convenient as it is, so that's why she's with you on the side. Find out for sure if she wants to be with you or not. 8/15/2009 3:05:58 PM |
lucyinthesky All American 11614 Posts user info edit post |
Exactly. It's easier for her to stay where she is now and get a side dish than it is for her to correct the situation. Breakups are hard. And you're not giving her a real reason to change the situation. 8/15/2009 3:08:55 PM |

I've got the essentials to keep my apartment habitable, but I'm still missing half my clothes, my living room, my dining room, and all my stuff in my kitchen with the exception of a couple of things I kept separate and packed myself (that were supposed to last me for all of 2 weeks, not the 8 weeks I'm having to wait to get my damn shit delivered to my apartment).
I've got some random bills lurking out there, and some companies are being incompetent and slow in getting me my account information so I can have insurance, etc so that I can legally live where I'm at right now.
Living here is retardedly expensive and I lack extra money to build myself a cushion right now.
But other than that it's actually going pretty well for me, so I'm not sure I'd put my life in the "suck" category. 8/15/2009 3:20:32 PM |

Mucho student loan debt, and one of my few credit cards is close to maxxing out, even though the other ones are paid down to almost nothing now. I survived the only round of layoffs my company has had in it's 65+ years, but that's tempered by the fact all bonuses and raises have been cancelled til improvement in the sales section comes.
Hopefully 25% cheaper rent for the next year along with no major required car fixes for the foreseeable future (got two dd beaters now, one as a backup) will let me clear up the credit card no problema and start saving. 8/15/2009 3:24:25 PM |
