I think you have discovered exactly why these two men were paired up now. I think it's just hard to see him interacting with others as "The Soup Guy" anyway for most people. I still think he's doing a good job.

Abed will end up being the breakout character though, if there is one.

Hey, newsflash - there are no new ideas anymore!

Just because a show has a single-camera format and takes interview breaks, and has a 40-something clueless white guy, it's a rip off of The Office? Do you remember when The Office started, and people couldn't get over how much of a "rip off" it was of the original Office?

How about you just enjoy the shows for what they are. And in the case of Modern Family and Community, they are looking to be really good new shows.

^well i mean, the US office was a rip-off of the british office, just an authorized rip-off. first few eps had the exact same script as the british office.

that said, other than the format, not sure how modern fam can be considered a ripoff of the office.

actually i wasn't really impressed at all by this past episode. the spanish teacher is really starting to get on my nerves and i thought the psych experiment was overly played out.

however i did like the black guy "is this still part of the experiment? this is definitely still part of the experiment."

i also thought what chevy chase said at the end was pretty wise in general.

They do, but the other characters are really coming up. I honestly can't say that any of the characters aren't funny. I mean, they're not all as hilarious as Senor Chang, but they're still damned funny.

I think I enjoy this more than Modern Family. It's one of my new favorites from this season but Ty Burrell kind of irks me and the "documentary" style is played out.

If they could tone down Ty Burrell's awkwardness just a tad, especially around Gloria, and keep only the documentary between Mitchell and Cam it'd be perfect. Cam always makes me lol.
