I don't know, I kind of like how the characters are growing. If everyone remained the same the show would start to get old real fast. You gotta shake things up.

Also they don't appear to act like a normal couple; meaning, they've actually found someone who lets them act like themselves. as long as their personalities remain intact I don't foresee it being much of an issue.

so the mother was in the Econ class, right? shes not an architect?

Just caught up on the first two episodes last night - yes he does say that the mother was in the class when he was teaching Econ....

i actually liked last nights episodes.

whenever they have songs in the show i fall for it pretty easily. i also liked them illustrating the couple without a buddy couple the same as being single, because after a while it is.

the poems were also a nice touch.

It felt like I was watching a bunch of skits instead of a sitcom. Mildly amusing? I guess. As enjoyable as this show was in its prime? Not even close.

As much as I like Marshall's character, it hasn't even been realistic lately. They just made his character a love-able idiot who does nothing serious. I don't think he's had a serious scene this whole season. Plus the whole Robin / Barney thing just doesn't work. I'm sure the writers can come up with something. I did like the last episode where Barney was taking the class on Robin but even that seemed pretty unrealistic.

Barney with a steady GF is like Kramer having a job...fun for one episode, then you move on

This dragging out is seriously hurting the show

Barney's exploits were the main reason I became a fan in the first place

What do we do when it's not funny and we're not enjoying ourselves?

I'm going to complain about one of my favorite shows when it starts to suck because it's "fairly easy" to see why - they're ruining the best character on the show and they're making the second best character into a joke.

last couple of shows seems like its more about about barney and robin and less about how he meets the mother.

i still like the show though, they usually seem to pick up on nuances of the older young professional crowd pretty well.

I like that the show is changing, people change, they grow up a little (Barney to some degree)

but I do think Marshall is a little over the top lately

anyone notice the actress who plays Lily got implants

I hear its common for women to get them after having children

her and Robin have switched place in hotness since the show began to me

I didn't realize she had gotten implants, I just assumed she still looked bigger after having a baby.

Robin looks like she's put on weight.

I just want to be entertained

Do we know for a fact that Alyson Hannigan (Lily) got breast implants? Her breasts are obviously larger, but she also just had a kid.

I don't ever want to see the mother cause imo that means the show will be ending.

I still think it would be awesome if, when the show finally does end, he's just telling a story like a normal episode and at the end he says something like, "and then I went to get some coffee and I met your mom in there" and the kids get up and leave and that's it.

After being around quite a few pregnant women lately I don't think they would have gotten that much bigger. Looks like implants to me but I could be wrong. I like this discussion.

mmmmm boobs

Quote :
"Hannigan says she's narrowed her choice of gowns for the big night to two dresses. "This year, my goal is to make sure the boobs stay in. I have boobs now! They're my new accessory," she joked. "I want to make sure they stay in, and they stay dry." "

Ok maybe I'm wrong. Well good for her.

It's not completely unwatchable but it was one of the few shows I watched when it actually came on instead of downloading it because I really looked forward to it every week. It's just disappointing when you lose that feeling of anticipation for one of your shows - I still watch it every Monday at 8 but it's mostly due to habit and I can easily see myself downgrading it to "I'll download and watch whenever I have some free time" status if it keeps on like it is.

I may catch some hell for this because I don't think this show is very popular on TWW - I hated Big Bang Theory when it first came out, but I think it's funnier right now than HIMYM currently is. BBT may not be overwhelmingly hilarious, but it provides some pretty consistent laughs.

^ I agree with that. BBT has surpassed HIMYM in bringing the funny.

i started watching bbt befroe himym. it provides the lols on a consistance basis, mainly due to the fact that its funny because its true. but i don't see it continuing for much longer. you can only rely on the same nerd jokes for so long.

^ yeah I thought the nerd jokes would get old pretty quick too. But I just watched seasons 1 and 2 back to back the past two weeks... it's provided the same amount of comedy throughout. And season 3 is even funnier because they're giving Raj more prominent of a role and he's gold

well this is what i think the issue has become with how i met your mother.

i think that for a while they were sitting around and writing scripts which resulted in some pretty good episodes. however, as that took place eventually the characters began to evolve and they noticed what people liked about each character. so now, seasons in they sit around and write scripts based on "what would be so barney" or "what is it that marshall would do here" rather than just writing a good script and letting it play out.

either way it still brings the funny and i have a good time watching it, even tough a lot of the nuances of the show are over the top at this point.

i actually liked it. someone above said it before and i think that they were absolutely correct that the show is changing over time just as people change over time.

the whole married into we thing has a lot more meaning for me now than it would have when i was 22 or 23 and just started watching the show.

I thought the whole "I turns into a we" thing wasn't bad at first and the whole Canada/America thing was fine

it just got really corny and cheesy as the episode went on

I think a lot of people up here complaining about HIMYM's problem is, the show has really evolved over the years & a lot of the stuff doesn't pertain to college age students any longer. I'm 30 married with kids & find it just as funny as it use to be, just in a different way...the same way as I find a lot of shit funny now that i didn't use to in college. Just a thought.

i do want this show to end. there is no reason to drag it out another season. i mean we get it. ted goes on dates, doesn't like them, but will like one of them and hangs out with his young professional friends in between.

also, ted's job is pretty plush. he teaches one class, at night, a few times a week and still gets to live/drink in NYC.

if this was real life. ted would be depressed and contemplating suicide. robin would be a coke addict and trying to hang with b-list celebs. marshall and lilly would be no place to be seen on a week night since marshall would likely be at work until late and lilly have to rise early. barney, well he'd still be legen....wait for it....
