About the Stanford prisoner Experiment (wikipedia it after you watch the movie). Based on a true story... It's amazing what people can do.

netflix about to unload the good movies to streamers

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/10/netflix-streaming-selecti_n_677204.html

"Netflix Inc. will pay nearly $1 billion during the next five years for the online streaming rights to movies from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM in a deal that could help convert even more people to the idea of getting their entertainment piped over high-speed Internet connections.
New movies include Jumping Jack Flash, Jurassic Park 3, Bennie and Joon, & Inception by the Sea.

Watched 180 South - I thought the idea for the movie was awesome. Ended up being way to preachy with respect to saving the environment, IMO. Shoulda had half as many abstract interviews about how to save the earth and twice as much climbing and surfing. Possibly interview the main character more on why he leads a dirtbag lifestyle. Still, I may end up watching it again.

Watched Motorcycle Diaries - Probably my favorite on Instant Watch so far. Thought it was good and kept my attention, I liked the ending too.

Watched Man on Wire - Dont know if this one has been mentioned yet but its about a tightrope walker whose dream is to tightrope walk between the two towers of the World Trade Center. Its a documentary but plays out a little like a spy thriller because they have to figure out how to sneak to the top of the WTC. Thought it was pretty enertaining. It also has a lot of shots and photos of the WTC, kind of a more sentimental and carefree way of remebering the WTC (instead of the shots of it burning which are what usually pop into my mind)

if you haven't seen them already you should check out "endless summer" and "any given sunday". both are documentaries shot in the late sixties by the same guy. Endless summer follows two surfers around the world surfing never before surfed areas. Any given sunday is about the rise of motorcycling as a middle class hobby.

even if you're not into surfing or motorcycling, these movies are awesome simply because the people are so passionate about doing something they love.

I'm watching a documentary series about space exploration that's great. starts with the Mercury program and goes on to modern programs in each respective episode.

Very much like America: The Story of Us (which was fantastic) but for space

Does anyone have a list of the potential new movies that will be on Instant with this new deal? Sort of curious to see what we got coming.

I'm FINALLY going to get around to watching Law Abiding Citizen I think tonight, unless the Mets surprise me and play well early.

^ lol, like anyone would take your advice on movies anyway. Not my cup of tea, but it does have great reviews on RT and IMDB.

I kinda liked Mary and Max... Definitely not a kid's movie.

It's pretty slow at times, and the storyline is pretty bland. But if you're familiar with mental illnesses or disabilities, you'll get a bit more out of it.

If nothing else, the animation itself is pretty good.

Hit me with something.

I've watched a couple good documentaries recently:
Kickin It (about the homeless world cup) 5/5
Modify (about body modification - not for the squeamish) 3/5

after innocence - good documentary, but only if you're into that kind of thing. i think if you aren't it could probably be pretty slow. i loved it

breaking away - this is like one of my favorite movies of all time (i have no idea why, i just love it) and i saw it was on instant watch the other day

i wish i could think of others but i haven't watched anything recently (movies, i mean) cause i've been stuck on the xfiles!

edit:

TELL NO ONE it is french and subtitled. its like a mystery/thriller type deal. i LOVED it. i just watched that a few weeks ago.

haha oops that came out kinda wrong - i didn't mean documentaries in general, i meant the legal/wrongfully accused/prison drama type stuff

but its good. also breaking away. i'll say it again, because i love that movie

we need something to watch tonight! a movie/doc/whatever. otherwise it is going to turn into an xfiles marathon and i don't think tschudi wants that haha. are there any good scary/thriller movies on instant watch? i'm open to whatever.

The movie really reminded me of when I was ~9 and used to by Tigger Beat at the groshire store and oogle at photos of Johnathon Taylor Thomas in acid washed denim. It's so over the top Romeo and Juliet teenage angst it's comical. Its ok, I'll watch all of them too

Boondock Saints II was HORRIBLE. I fell asleep near the end (which is actually when my friend told me it got kinda decent). I was only able to stay awake up to that point because the lead actress (forget her name) was soo nice to look at. Much better than her character in Dexter.
