I was learning about the end of the 1980's and the beginning of the 90's in my weekly reader (that we got to take home at the end of the week).

12 years old.

In grade 8.

Eagerly awaiting the splitting of science into Chem/Bio/Phys in grade 9.

Beginnings of my religious non-obedience.

Came to know about sex from a classmate (or maybe a year earlier?).

Started wearing glasses (also a year earlier, I think).

This is when I started getting really sick. I had just moved to NC and got scarlet fever and all kinds of crazy shit. I got so sick the doctors thought it was leukemia.

Turned out not to be and I got better, but 20 years ago was about the time it started.

8 years old, sleeping in the top bunk with my brother in the bottom bunk. Listening to Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi religiously. School was in Mrs. McGuire's second grade class at Moncure Elementary, moving to the newly built Rockhill Elementary in January. Mom was president of the PTO, Dad was still stationed at the Pentagon, had just been promoted to Major.

Getting ready for Santa Claus to come see me, and hopefully bringing some Ghostbusters and Batman figures.

I had just turned 11 years old.
5th grade.
Moved from a nice house house in a shitty neighborhood, 1 block from the housing projects; to a neighborhood for well-paid rich folks.
Teacher called my mom and said I had missed more homework than the whole rest of the class combined (because I didn't actually do any of it, lol). Thus started my tradition of slacking off in school.

I was 7 years old and my universe had just been changed by Hugo blowing through Charlotte. I knew from that point on that weather would drive everything I did. Ninja Turtles and NES ruled the world!

Was still living in Missouri and I though George Brett was god and was thoroughly convinced that professional baseball was in my future (might even have happened if I hadn't completely ruined my shoulder shortly after moving to NC).

6 yrs old & going on 7

We had just been to Disney for Christmas, and returned to NC to the big snow storm. Molly, our dog, got lost in it. We let her out to pee, and she didn't come back. She had been missing for 3 days when my mom went out again to try to find her, and heard her whine. Molly had caught her leg on a barbed wire fence near our house. With the snow having been so deep, we figure she didn't see it. Luckily, she had laid very still so there was little damage to her leg, and ate the snow around her.

Age 9, in 4th grade at Guilford Middle School. We did class changes for the first time that year--was in Mrs. Herring's class for homeroom, math, and history, Ms. Atkins' for language arts, and Mrs. Estes' for science.

spring 1990 right? paranoid about unwanted erection. I was a blacksmith apprentice too. I lived in a Historical town. some time that year I started using Prodigy and started my life on the internet. I was playing Red Baron, Civilization, Space Quest 4, Wing Commander 2, ahhh the memories. Choose your own Adventure books! lol
I was into Pink Floyd because my brother liked it.
