Right now I'm baking some bread and about to make steam eggplant, onion, and kale over rice with peanut sauce with sweetpotato cheese fries (melted sage derby).


I got sick of eating grease and processed foods. I don't eat a lot of meat anyway so cooking veggies at home is awesome. My boyfriend cooks a lot too; it makes it so much easier to buy and make food for the house when you eat the same things.

He does an awesome chicken salad with my homemade garlic mayo! We also make a lot of curry dishes, veggies in pasta, and eggs of many styles.

My favorite thing to eat is a sandwich with sage/basil mayo (on bread I made myself!) with kale and basil leaves instead of lettuce and a salsa of raw garlic, hot peppers, tomato, and onion with two gooey eggs over-easy... Simple summer lunch with a little bit of witbier to wash it down.

finished product...it was really good but not as good as the burritos i made last week. the burritos i'd eat over ANY burrito at a restaurant around here and over other things at restaurants i like. this was a good alternative to asian chicken, but needs tweaking. still good, not as good as my orange glazed chicken though. this is a ginger sesame chicken w/ scallions and water chestnuts

I just cooked a giagantic ass meal for my friends

- rosemary, basil grilled chicken
- brown sugar glazed and roasted acorn squash, butternut squash, beets, and sweet potatoes
- parsley and garlic sauteed zucchini, yellow squash, and Japanese eggplant
and then raspberry ginger grilled peaches and icecream

I am really excited about what I am making for dinner tonight. I had hollandaise sauce for the first time over the weekend and I decided I wanted to make some. And somehow that evolved into wanting to make flavored hollandaise, so I am making some roasted serrano pepper hollandaise to serve over spicy sweet potato hash.

Then I am making chile relleno casseroles (eggs and egg whites, cheese, chilies and corn) and goat cheese, avocado and tomato crostini. I know the crostini don't entirely go with the rest of the meal but I have avocado and tomato I want to use and they are delicious, so oh well.

The roasted serrano hollandaise was awesome and also pretty easy because I cheated and made it in the Magic Bullet. I just blended two yolks with some lemon juice and three serranos that I roasted and peeled last night. Blended in half a stick of hot melted butter in increments and it was good to go. I foresee a lot of Benedicts in my future now.

^^ blender hollandaise is the way to go. doign that shit by hand is just time consuming and easy to fuck up.

hand made mayonnaise, on the other hand... if fucking delicious.

Yeah, definitely. I was just a bit worried that because I couldn't add the butter in a small stream while it was running like I would have in an actual blender that it might separate. But it didn't. And it was delicious.

Funny you say that, because after I made the hollandaise I thought, "If this is so good, I should really try my hand at mayonnaise soon." I'm thinking either dill or basil-garlic.

yummm i <3 hollandaise sauce! It's especially good with fried oysters, roasted asparagus, and of course eggs benedict!

But it does separate very easily, so for bigger parties I would just use a dry mix!

I'm making shrimp and grits tomorrow for my cellmates cabinmates and I.

Mostly, so I can go through some food - we're all moving shortly.
Suggestions on what else to serve? Note that I intend for there to be lots of leftovers, and more than likely, this'll be a 'eat out of the pot on your own time' deal, owing to work schedules and shit.

I just had leftover fiesta casserole


which was pretty simple to make, very hearty, and pretty healthy (except for the copious amounts of cheese we use)- at least I didn't have any sour cream to cover it with

going to make my first apple cobbler here soon. it's a trial run b4 taking it to my MIL for a fall dinner (in lieu of thanksgiving dinner)

that reminds me...i could make my pumpkin & caramelized pecan pie for my family reunion that's on sunday. we usually just take sweet tea. but a dessert would be cool

i made a DANK apple cobbler for christmas eve dinner last year. it was my first time (props for trying it out beforehand, unfortunately i was not that coordinated). i'm really glad it came out well. it was amazing and 100% from scratch (i mean, i didn't grow the apples or anything but there were no fillings used and i made the crust from scratch and stuffs). let me know how yours turns out!!!

i started with apple cobbler instead of apple or cherry pie because crust is hard/scary and with a pie it needs to look all pretty and fancy. with a cobbler you have some leeway

pretty much that, but we seasoned the beef with some taco/fajita seasoning (and I think next time we will try turkey, chicken, or pork), we added some black beans, and the fiance decided to throw some olives on top (not my favorite, but meh- didn't stop me from eating it


pretty simple, and like i said- very hearty and tasty

^that sounds good! and i bet it would be great with turkey. i would probably add some onions to it, or green onions on the top after baking. avocado too.


and to all tww cooks: i'm looking for a good sweet potato casserole recipe for thanksgiving so send them to me!!

and i like avacados too, but at that point, I'd probably just go ahead and make some of my guacamole and use that as a topping... mmmmmmmm guacamole.....

last year I made mashed sweet potatoes with maple syrup and brown sugar in it... so amazing

tonight I made a medley mix with whole wheat elbow macaroni/spaghetti, zucchini, peppers, eggplant, worsterchire sauce, lemon juice, and feta cheese on top
