"Fallout: New Vegas patch inbound
By Eddie Makuch, GameSpotPosted Apr 13, 2011 9:15 am PT

Bethesda announces "optimizations and stability improvements" update currently in certification and coming to the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in the coming weeks.

Obsidian Entertainment's Fallout: New Vegas was released late last year to warm reception, but it was riddled with a range of bugs following its debut. Now, gamers eager to enter a cleaner New Vegas can expect a "stability improvement" patch, currently heading to all systems.

In a Bethesda Blog update, Fallout: New Vegas senior producer Jason Bergman said a patch, which focuses on "optimizations and stability improvements," is currently in certification process and will arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in the coming weeks.

New Vegas is getting all patched up soon.

The post states that Bethesda and Obsidian searched through the game's forums to learn what types of headaches gamers were most frequently experiencing.

"We have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes," reads the post.

In December, Fallout: New Vegas--which has shipped five million units--welcomed the Dead Money downloadable content. Gamers thirsting for more action can look forward to more content, as Bethesda has promised at least three more content packs for the game. Unfortunately, none of these three add-ons have been named, priced, or dated.

Developed by many veterans of the original Fallout games at Obsidian Entertainment (Alpha Protocol), New Vegas is set in the Mojave wasteland and casts players in the role of a courier who is shot in the head and left for dead. After recovering, players roam the desert and the titular metropolis, exploring new areas and modifying weapons. They also get wrapped up in the larger conflict among the bureaucratic New California Republic, the slave-trading Caesar's Legion, and a mysterious New Vegas impresario named Mr. House. "

I really wish my hard drive hadn't been corrupted, ruining my saved game. I was around level 25 and was about to start up the Dead Money DLC. I haven't played it since then but should start up another playthrough just to do that.

ha i rotate like 6-8 saves at a time on an active game. don't trust their stuff. though that doesn't really help much if your harddrive goes belly up

Patch should b live across the board, I got it on the PC.

Quote :
"Hi everyone,

The promised patch for Fallout: New Vegas is almost here! PC users will get it on Monday and console folk will receive it soon (we’re still waiting to hear the exact date).

As I mentioned in my previous post, this patch contains optimizations and stability improvements as well as balance changes.

Here’s a rundown of the balance tweaks we’ve implemented for this update:

Guns:

Automatic Guns - SMGs, the Assault Carbine, and the LMG are more accurate across the board. They're also more durable. 12.7mm SMG mag capacity increased to 21.
Shotguns - Buckshot has received a x1.2 inherent DAM mod. This slightly incentivizes using buckshot over slugs when enemy armor is not an issue. Magnum buckshot has a x1.3 DAM mod and a small amount of DT bypass. Spread for many shotguns has been lowered.
Hunting Rifle, Anti-Materiel Rifle - Hunting Rifle and AMR now have the lowest spread of all rifles. Hunting Rifle RoF increased, Crit Chance set to x2. Anti-Materiel Rifle's Crit DAM has been raised from 80 to 110 to make it more viable when compared to the Gobi.
Sniper Rifle, Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle - Sniper Rifle and Gobi now have a higher RoF and lower AP cost. Both have x2 Crit Chance. Gobi has increased DAM and much higher Crit DAM over the Sniper Rifle.
That Gun - That Gun is now a slow-firing hand cannon that does huge DAM firing 5.56mm out of a short barrel.
Hunting Revolver – Rate of Fire increased.
Service Rifle - DAM slightly lowered, firing animation changed to the one used by Marksman Carbine, RoF dramatically increased. Spread decreased.
Silenced .22 Pistol, SMG - Crit DAM and Crit Chance significantly increased.
5mm Ammo - Base ammo has 10 points of DT bypass. AP variants have 25 points of DT bypass. This affects the Assault Carbine, Minigun, and CZ57 Avenger.
.308 JSP - DAM mult reduced from x1.5 to x1.3. x2 CND degradation effect added.
Lever-Action Rifles - Cowboy Repeater, Trail Carbine, Brush Gun - RoF has been slightly reduced, AP costs have been significantly increased, and spread has been slightly increased. Cowboy Repeater Custom Action RoF increase has been reduced. La Longue Carabine spread has been significantly lowered.

Explosives:

Dynamite - Larger explosion radius.
Frag and Plasma Grenades – DAM increased.
25mm Grenades - Slightly increased DAM on the explosion.
40mm Grenades - Significantly higher DAM on the explosion.
Missile Launcher / Fat Man - Now have much better zoom FoV and good accuracy. Missile and Fat Man projectiles (not the explosion) have a large base DAM. Both are extremely effective on direct hits, but still potent even if a direct hit is not scored. N.B.: Listed DAM on weapons assumes a direct hit!

Energy Weapons:

Gatling Laser - Base DAM is higher. Against heavily armored targets, this is still a poor weapon. Against lightly armored targets, especially with Over Charge or Max Charge ECPs + Focus Optics + Laser Commander, it has extraordinary DPS.
Tesla Cannon, Tesla-Beaton Prototype - These now consume far less ammo per shot and can be fired several times before a reload. DAM is beefy with an additional 2 second DoT.
Pew-Pew - Lower ammo capacity, consumes far fewer ECs per shot. Still a two-shot weapon.

Melee and Unarmed:

Ripper, Chainsaw, Thermic Lance - DAM lowered, all ignore DR/DT.
Bladed Gauntlet, Mantis Gauntlet - Ignore DR/DT flags removed (were not supposed to be marked as such). Mantis Gauntlet animation/sound fixed.

Perks:

Splash Damage – Functions properly.
The Professional - 10mm Pistol, SMG added to perk list."

Glad they fixed some of that crap finally, I did most of it myself months ago.

Gatling laser was actually significantly worse than the laser tommy gun in the original game.

"Fallout: New Vegas DLC resumes May 17

By Tom Magrino, GameSpot
Posted May 3, 2011 10:39 am PT

Fresh round of add-on packs for Obsidian's postapocalyptic RPG begins with Honest Hearts, followed by Old World Blues in June, Lonesome Road in July; $10 price tag.

Exposure is always a concern with nuclear fallout, and Bethesda succeeded not at all in avoiding it with New Vegas' upcoming downloadable content packs. In January, word slipped out that its first add-on--Dead Money--would be followed by three more DLC packs, a fact that Bethesda confirmed in early February. Today, the publisher detailed just what gamers can expect from the add-on packs.

Honest Hearts will lead the three-pack, arriving for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on May 17. The action takes place in Utah's Zion National Park and sees gamers leading an expedition that is swamped by a roving tribal war party. Players are then charged with escaping to the Mojave, battling the belligerent nomads in the process.

New Vegas continues to experience DLC aftershocks.

In June, Bethesda will release Old World Blues. The add-on pack sees gamers forced into partaking in a gruesome science experiment that also offers a closer look at the Mojave's mutated-monster contingent. Gamers will be presented with the option of battling the maniacal scientists or joining with them to fend off "an even greater threat."

Lastly, the Lonesome Road DLC will drop in July. In it, gamers will be contacted by the original Courier Six, who refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the beginning of the game. Gamers will be offered the reason for his refusal if they agree to venture into the Divide, which has been ravaged by earthquakes and hurricanes.

Developed by the recently layoff-struck Obsidian Entertainment, the three add-on packs will each cost $10 (800 Microsoft points). All three are set for simultaneous release for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on their respective ship dates. "

This and L.A. Noire on the same day. Potentially could be the best game release day of this year.

Muggy ftw.

I bought all the expansions during the Steam summer sale and have been playing a ton of NV as a result. I'm almost at the point where I've outplayed it... I'm in the middle of Old World Blues and I just straight up skip the dialogue, Okana Gamesphere style, because I just want to finish everything. Which is kind of sad, since I think the quality of OWB is pretty top notch and I can tell it's pretty clever. I think I'll take a break for a month or so.

I didn't really care for Honest Hearts but I'm also playing the JE Sawyer mod and can only carry like 165 WG so I'm constantly struggling to pick shit up and keep it.

The DLCs are really good, especially Old World Blues. Really funny. Working on reaching level 50.

i would say the game isn't as buggy as skyrim, only a few games are at that level, the all time winner being neverwinter nights 2

so whats the highest you should manually take any skill when you level up? like assuming you will end up reading some skill books to get additional points, whats the highest you should take any skill up to?

started a new game the other night. one save i did some xp glitch and got to level 30 real quick but figure i problem didn't pick the right skills, so on another i only glitched up to level 14 or so...got speech, lockpick, and science up to 50, but not sure if i want to boost them to 75 too?

So in about 7 hours of gameplay, Lord Arnold is level 30, has 29 perks, and over a million caps. Time to get some good gear.
