"I Was Totally Destroying It" has to be one of the worst band names i've ever heard. still might check this out in a couple months.

i may just stick with the $85 one

but i fucking hate waiting in line

that very well may be worth $35

i feel like it could be imperative to have the $120 pass if you're going to bounce from venue to venue multiple times every night

also, IWTDI should be called "i was totally destroying it, and by 'it,' i mean short band names"

^+Javelin, too, on that show. That show makes the only night without a headlining show totally worth attending.

As far as the concerns about the lines, I've actually never been to a festival, so I don't know, but can't places like The Pour House and Tir Na Nog only hold 300-400 people? If so, does that mean that if you're not one of the first three or four hundred people there for a show that you don't get in even if you have the $85 wristband? That might make the extra $35 for the VIP passes definitely worth it.

yeah, the problem is TPOBPAH is actually a good band while the terribleness of Cute Is What We Aim For as a band name accurately reflects how bad the band is.

that's pretty much right and it should be interesting to see how that plays out. You gotta remember though that there will be simultaneous shows going on all over town, so not everyone is going to want the same shows.

^ which is why the $120 pass might be the way to go if you're really hyped about multiple acts in multiple venues on one night...i have to assume that they'll limit the vip passes to a number that would allow basically universal access even if a venue is right up against capacity

and really, $35 is just a night that you meant to stop in for two beers and ended up staying all night. i don't know about you guys, but that happens to me at least once a month

that extra $35 bucks also gets you into a VIP pre-show party on Thursday at the Sheraton Hotel. There will more than likely will be a bunch of booze, swag, and band members at that party also.

^Even if you bought the $120 VIP wristband, though, if you go to a venue and they can't let you in because they're at capacity, I don't see how the VIP wristband would change it if the place is full of people who bought the $45 or $85 tickets and even if they really limit the VIP wristbands, the $85 ones won't be as limited. Unless they kick one of those people out, which I can't really see them doing. Like ^^^ said, I'm sure it won't be a big deal, since attendance will be spread out across the different venues; still, I'm curious to see how that works out.

That said, it'll still probably be easier to see all the smaller shows you want to see with the VIP wristband.

i'm down for booze and swag, but there are gonna be band members everywhere the whole weekend, so that's not a huge deal

pretty sure they won't.

These clubs have a legal capacity that they can't go over. If the club is full, it will probably turn into a one-in, one-out, type of situation, where any VIP peeps get first dibs.

they eventually got to the point where they were doing one-in, one-out at the pour house during double barrel two years ago

but i refuse to believe they weren't already above capacity at that point

If the VIP wristbands somehow guarantee you access to all venues at all times, they're definitely worth it. If not, I don't know. I'd love to ask Grayson himself, but I lost his number a while ago, and I'm sure he's a busy man with all the Hopscotch stuff today.

I'm going for the 120 tix. If it leads to me getting to one or two extra shows I wouldn't be able to stand in line for and a few extra peaceful beers, the 35 will be worth it.

so basically the VIP just lets you skip the line? but if its at capacity thennnn they'll do a one in one out and VIP will get first dibs?

i think i'm just going to do the VIP

if there were like a $100 difference or something then i'd say no. but the difference isn't huge. and i feel like it is worth it (for me anyway)

any idea what time these tix are going on sale tomorrow?

i'm getting the $120 ticket, my friends be damned.

i know none of the rest of them will do it, which means i'm likely to get into shows that they don't want to wait for, etc, but it's the only way to go, imho.

^seriously. why do they have to make this decision so difficult? just make it one flat price for the weekend and sell individual tickets for each day - problem solved.

Also, ^ I like the way they did pricing. It's pretty much the way you said, but with more options. If you just want to go to one of the headlining shows, they're $30. If you just want to see the smaller shows, they're $45. Granted, it's tough to decide if the $120 is worth it over the $85. If you can spare an extra $35, sweet, you'll get some free booze before things kick off and have a greater chance of seeing everything you want to see. If not, you'll still get to see the headlining shows and most of the smaller shows. I don't have many real complaints with the way they're doing it.

I like the pricing, too. The individual shows are reasonably priced, the club wristband is a steal, the all-access wristband gives a significant discount over buying everything individually, and the VIP is a fair price increase for the extra accessibility it provides. Maybe that's all obvious, but considering some events have a slew of ticketing options I don't think it's too complicated.
