Well, I have had a number of discussions with otherwise intelligent people who are sucked in by this stuff. They "shoot down" my arguments with logical fallacies and they're so ignorant to the scientific method and to how many unrelated fields of science agree on those issues (And so unwilling to look into anything that doesn't support their claims) that they think they've come away with the upper hand.

If you are incredibly ignorant to much of science then it's relatively easy to be taken in by the creationist/ID agenda, especially if you're highly religious and your religion is promoting these ideas.

I have honestly spoken to people who believed in geocentrism because the bible mentions it. They have no way to reconcile that belief with reality, reality being the incredible wealth of information that points to a heliocentric solar system and the fact that we lie on the outer edge of a galaxy randomly dispersed within the universe. They have to bury their heads in the sand just to maintain such a belief, but they are unshakable in it. It is mind boggling that someone in the US today could adhere to such a belief, but there are quite a few people out there who truly think that heliocentrism is some kind of conspiracy against their religion.


What this has to do with putting swarovsky crystals right above your vag piece is beyond me though son. I'mma start a pejazzling fad son.

I call bullshit. This sounds like an incredibly oversimplified account of a religion vs. science debate. I find that people usually aren't this extreme in their beliefs; they're usually more level-headed about them. At least, many of the people I've talked to about religion and such. It's usually more "I believe it because it helps me live a better life" than it is "I believe it because the Bible says so." To say that Christians only believe in creationism or geocentrism because the Bible tells them it's true is essentially the same thing as a Christian saying that those who believe in evolution "think we're all monkeys" or some sort of nonsense like that. It's an oversimplification of a belief that is more nuanced than you're portraying it to be.
