I agree.

I like the episodes that explore some philosophical dilemma.

So Carol is basically The Incredible Hulk on Rick's team of Avengers. Got it.

You wouldn't like her when she's angry...or when you threaten one of her friends...or make fun of her cookies.

Liked the episode. Another one whose budget suffered from the epic episodes. I really do like episodes that allow deep character studies for virtually the entire episode. With such a large cast its really easy to have everyone with a few lines.

I think they did a good job with Carol but missed the mark a little. They got to where they wanted but I think the dialogue could have been touched up a bit to flesh it out differently.

Similar with Mags.

One way to look at where the budget goes on these episodes it to look at who directs the big episodes and where they show up throughout the season. This normally translates to the episodes that are wow worthy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Walking_Dead_episodes#Season_6_.282015.E2.80.9316.29

Example, Look for writers Seth Hoffman, Scott M. Gimple,
Directors, Greg Nicotero etc.

Also, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520211/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ql_dt_1

Shows who has directed/written and is another cross reference to talent/budget.

Well I guess her biggest talent is her acting. She looks like a weak old woman and she can play the part so people let their guard down around her.

Remember when Carol blew up Terminus with a bottle rocket? She hasn't been weak for a while. We did not see much character deveopment from her in this episode.

its not about her character development, it was her relationship with Maggie developing

and she can still convince people she is helpless

as for Terminus, she just walked up and took out the whole place right off the bat

^^ That episode was the turning point for the entire series. Everyone disliked how much time they spent on the farm. They were actually able to get away from walkers for the most part. After that it all goes to hell again and season after season has been good if not great.

Its somewhat annoying that this show cant please its audience without something going to hell every other episode. Makes me wonder how the series will end.

The show was not very good until that moment

I even have tell people who are binge watching to "tough it out, it will get better"

But that moment really changed many opinions about the show,

Including mine right off the bat

I don't understand the haters on this past episode. I thought it was solid. Not great, but definitely solid.

The Carol using the Rosary to escape or kill someone was a little obvious but I liked how long they took to make it happen and her misdirection along the way.

Someone mentioned that we didn't see much character development from Carol. I'd disagree since that entire episode showed us how much Carol doesn't want to kill any more, especially given her conversations with Maggie. You could also see how she really related to the main Negan girl and how sad Carol was that the other girl could kill indiscriminately.

That episode definitely added some to Carol's already vast depth, IMO.

Are people really complaining about "hell breaking loose" on this show?

Would you rather it be a soap opera with just zombies in the background? I think the show still struggles with finding a balance with character development and action, but I think it's doing an OK job.

Did I want a full episode about Morgan in the Fall? No.
Was it still a good episode? Eh, it was OK and I see why it was needed now.

Did I want a full episode about Carol and Maggie evolving and dealing with inner struggles? No.
Was it still a good episode? Yes.

Personally think they need to desperately thin the main cast down some, it's gotten a little out of hand and I'd rather not have something where I'm only seeing 2-3 members of the cast every episode.

Yeah it was a good episode.

The Neegan girl was pretty much an earlier version of Carol; she just hadn't come to the moral conflict Carol was at.

This show was absolutely terrible during the governor episodes. It was flat out bad. The first season and farm were better than anything having to do with mayberry (or whatever that town was called) or the prison. Once they left the prison it improved dramatically.

Anyone else recognize the "leader" Negan chick as Alicia Witt, star of the movie Urban Legend? Haha.

Oh, and since someone mentioned Morgan I'd like to comment on his character. I was really excited to see all the "hidden" clips after the credits showing him making progress towards meeting up with the group. I had great expectations about what we could expect from his character...and now that all that has happened he has to be one of the worst characters on the show. WTF writers?

But yeah, losing faith in the show writers. Really hoping there is a payoff for some of the changes.

I'm still confused as to how Darryl, Rosita, and Eugene made it out of that with only Eugene getting shot once. That guy had like 8 people on his side with rifles pointed at both of them. The second Eugene made a move, they would have shot them down immediately.

But he wasn't even aiming at her!

Great death in terms of surprise. (I haven't read the comics)

They definitely struck out on the ambush. All they had to do was have one more character with Abraham for a more realistic ambush.

Well so far all we've seen about The Saviors is they have a ton of well-armed guys, but apparently they're all terrible shots and overly-confident to a fault.

I mean what is that, like 30+ Saviors dead to 1 person from Alexandria?

I was pretty underwhelmed with that episode. I thought it was choppy and the plot made little to no sense. For starts, I believe they glossed over too much of the Eugene and Abraham story. It started with the writers showing us E & A away from camp with no backstory, then Abraham leaves, Eugene is captured (again out of the blue) and some how Abraham finds him and follows him. Just makes very little sense overall IMO.

I'm also confused by Dwight. Why is D so pissed at Daryl. Daryl helped Dwight multiple times and Dwight then left Daryl, stealing his bike and crossbow. Dwight seemed more like a guy with a vendetta and it seems really out of place given what we know.

^^ Well, he was tortured for leaving Negan I am guessing. The burns on his face.

I mean, we haven't seen his character in a while and he may have been acting. The woman he is with may be a hostage to get him to do what Negan wants.

Also, I don't mind if things happen off screen without us seeing it. If Eugene was captured, the audience has the same reaction that Daryl and company do because neither group saw it.

Abraham probably stayed around to look after Eugene or saw Eugene get captured.

Regardless, im fine with not seeing everything on screen.

So different characters have been going through development arcs where they have to be killing machines and then come to grips with it and then back and forth. What I dont get is Carols backtracking to someone who cant kill.

I actually think its a ruse so they dont come after her. I am guessing she ends up with Negan's group one way or another and she does something incredible to save Daryl or hurt Negan.

^I don't mean to convey I am not content with events happening off screen- hell the two month flashforward earlier in the season is that exact thing. I only suggest that it's done in a way that makes sense. Within that single hour there were too many jumps, making the episode appear disconnected and as if the the writers concocted what they could to reach a end scene they desired.

I get Carol's regrets and that she is turning away from killing. She's not a monster. She knows what she has done but there are also bound to be regrets when she reflects on how she used to be. To me that sees much more natural than the plot holes above.

Yeah I don't get this either. Dwight was holding a pistol when Eugene bit him in the dick. Why the fuck didn't he just pop Eugene in the head right away?

I don't know, I guess I've never had anyone pull that stunt. Though I could see my brain shutting off with some post-mullet Eugene chomping down on my man parts. Hell it's hard to see straight when you just get hit in that region, let alone someone trying to eat your hot dog without the relish.

Jeans are too stiff to get a good hold.

That entire scene is some bs. They should have cut down on the number of bad guys and edited it quicker to make the dick biting more believable.

Weak sauce but overall good episode.
