The worst is when you're listening to a rap song with sirens in it while speeding and you get that "oh shit" sensation and look in the mirror

I remember me and Kyle and Brandon got mad spooked while listening to Hiero in the car many moons ago ("Friday night, everything is right/'til Opio hung a left, then I seen his lights" [SIREN!]).

see, and that's the type of shit that I listened to

don't try to call me out when you listen to the same shit I did

it's not like I was driving around all the time hearing sirens.... it happened every now and again. not an everyday thing. but it was still unneeded stress.

Does anyone ever get a ticket and think, "You know, I really shouldn't have been speeding. I'm going to put in a legitimate effort to not speed from here on out." For me, it's always been, "Well, I got caught. How did I get caught? I need to not make that mistake again."

I'm sure some people think that way, but its dumb. Speed limits within cities and in residential neighborhoods are reasonable, but limits on most interstates/highways are artificially low. It's done in the name of safety but (as you can tell) its really all about the money.

not trollin here, but the part about methods to get out of a ticket: never admit guilt or what speed you think were going. then what? do you just sit there in silence and hope the cop gets bored and forgets why he even pulled you over?

^You just act ignorant and naive. It's not that hard to do, I've been pulled over like 10 times, lol. (just 6 for speeding I think).

Absolutely do not admit that you broke the law. The key is to just do it without making it obvious that you're lying.

No, when he walks up and asks, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" or "Do you know how fast you were going?" you don't respond, or respond with "No comment."

Because if you lie, he can put you in deeper shit in court for not cooperating (if he's an ass, or you were an ass and deserve it).

And, generally speaking, people tend to admit they were going SOME speed over the speed limit when asked how fast they were going. It's weird how we tend to want to tell something close to the truth in this situation. But if you say to the cop that you were going even 1 mile over the speed limit, then he's got a verbal confession from you for speeding.

There's a cool video on the internet called something along the lines of "never speak to the police" where a Harvard law professor is talking about why it's NEVER a good idea to make comments to the police about anything EVER. I recommend it.

^^ Don't say "No comment" or sit there staring at him blankly. Say "I don't know." You aren't lying. Even if you were speeding, you don't know know why he's pulling you over--you aren't a mind reader. If he asks if you know how fast you were going, you don't. Were you staring at a GPS-verified speedometer the whole time he was observing/clocking you? I didn't think so.

The reason he's asking you that is to fish for a confession, so yes, you are correct in saying not to admit to a lower speed than you were actually doing.

and yes, I view it as a fast driving tax. It's a fucking racket, but whatever...I'll keep paying it and keep driving how I want.

Yep, and I believe felony charges for 15+ over. I wouldn't live in VA for any reason for their speeding laws alone.

Yep, and I also think "Well, I'm paying for it, so I'm gonna damn well get my money's worth now. I think tend to turn the wick up and go even faster as soon as I'm out of sight of the cop."

Fun Facts about speeding tickets auto theft

Here are some new (or recent) boosted cost speeding violations:

Colorado: $135 for driving 10-19 over "reasonable and prudent speed". Previous cost - $50.
Georgia: $200 state fine for driving 85 or faster on highways, in addition to the local speeding ticket.
Florida: $191 for speeding 10-14 over the limit, increase of $35.

Funny how they hardly mention safety, instead these state officials are mainly quoted as saying they need more money.

Oh and here's an increased fine in Germany, that I'm in agreement with: "Staying in the left lane of the autobahn when the right lane is free" 80 euros (previously 40).

How did I get caught? A cop saw me speeding.
How can I not make that mistake again? Well, I can't control what the cop sees, so it looks like the only thing I can change is to slow the fuck down.

The speed limit on the road getting to my neighborhood is rediculously low. The road is similar to Athens Dr but has a speed limit
of 25mph when really the speed limit should be 35mph. Of course the law loves camping out this road because nobody
goes 25mph.

This is my biggest problem with the whole traffic ticket thing. Unless i cause an accident or am guilty of a misdeamenor
traffic offense; my driving record should not be tied to my insurance. I would argue that Farmer Joe going 10 under
on I40 is a bigger hazard (but legal) than my car going 10 over.

Also why are speeding tickets the same fine regardless of if you show up to court or not. You would think they would provide
some incentive for you to Not come to court clogging up their courthouse to fight your ticket. Otherwise who the fuck
actually "admits guilt" when even by negotiating with the DA to reduce their ticket to 9-over, one ends up saving significant
car insurance money.

its not faggish if its true

^^wouldnt you assume that your driving causes you to present an increased risk? to me it sounds perfectly correct that your driving record should be tied to your insurance

i believe there is actually a minimum speed, in SC its actually posted but i think in NC theres still a minimum, and people do get pulled for driving too slow

I know and you know that everyone in this thread is aware that if you, in fact, never exceed the speed limit, you shouldn't ever get a speeding ticket. Pointing that out despite knowing that qualifies.

Your driving record should certainly be tied to your insurance rates...but insurance companies using speeding tickets and stuff to statistically predict if you're likely to have wrecks and cost them money in claims is retarded. If you want to hike rates for something, hike them for at-fault wrecks (they already do, but they should hike rates more for that and little or none for other stuff).

"Accident forgiveness" really irritates me, for this reason.
