If you have any info about a 52cm Scattante cyclocross please PM me! My husband's bike was stolen from inside our house in Cary this weekend. We suspect a high schooler. We built this bike up from the frame, so it is easy to ID.

Your husband is a short guy.
6/2/2010 12:57:19 PM
5'9" with short legs and it's a race fit (smallest frame that doesn't cause him pain). This bike is 2/3 mine because we used the parts off of my old bike I was too sick to ride. We really need it back. Thinking about it makes me cry.

pic of the bike so that we'll know it if we spot it?

http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1086096_-1_400314_400001_400314This frame with Dura-ace, Ultegra 9sd. Had 32mm semi knobby cross tires on it at the time of theft. My husband has the pics on his computer, so I will post those later when he gets home and calms down. Red bottle cages. There are very few Scattante cross frames with components of that quality, so that and the size make it easy to ID.

Damn you really slapped some gold on that POS frame, lol.

Sorry to tell ya but your not gonna get that bike back. I had one stolen 4 years ago and ended up seeing a bum with it in Greenville last year. It had already been ragged out so I just let him keep it. When I filed a police report about it the cop said the thieves steal them up here 10-20 at a time and drive an hour or more away to sell them or part out on eBay.Keep searching all the craigslists on this website and eBay to see if some of the parts show up.http://www.searchtempest.com/

http://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/1769092286.htmlDoubt its yours, but maybe? Kinda sketchy that the paint has been stripped and that it's the same size as yours I believe...
6/2/2010 5:05:44 PM
from inside your house?lock up, maybe?
6/2/2010 5:07:21 PM
^based upon other threads i believe she has room mate issues
6/2/2010 6:08:27 PM
My roommate's bike was stolen. But his tire was flat so they stole the front wheel off my old Huffy. That's cool though, now I have one featherlight aluminum rim on my 20 year old mountain bike.
6/2/2010 6:21:52 PM
The craigslist one is not ours, the bike in question has a dura ace crankset. This was not a pro, they left a PS3 on the table in the living room and the bike was in the back room of the house, not visible from the street and my husband doesn't ride it around the neighborhood. Pretty sure it's someone that's been in the house many times before and knows the roommate frequently leaves the back door unlocked. They probably just wanted to bike home instead of walk after drinking and had no idea how expensive the bike was. At least that's what I'm hoping. High school kids are not smart enough to realize that they need to drive far away to sell shit.

Check under the couchMaybe its hiding there with your stamps
6/3/2010 8:24:30 AM
Found it at a pawn shop!
6/8/2010 4:36:06 PM
So, I assume that the person who pawned it will now be nailed. Updates when they are available. I have no use for a thief and love hearing tales of justice.
6/8/2010 4:40:31 PM
^^Awesome! I'm happy for you. As a fellow cyclist, I know i'd be beside myself if I lost my bike.Yes, post info as you get it!

^^^^ Good for you!!! Which pawn by chance? My bike was stolen, 2 weeks ago... Still no word... I've been calling local thrift stores to no avail
6/8/2010 5:46:51 PM
Awesome, now you can stop posting in every fucking thread about it.

Cary Jewelry and Pawn. They have lots of video cameras, his driver's license number, address, etc. They were good to deal with. When the owner learned how much the bike was worth they turned it over to us for the $40 they paid for it. We were offering a $100 no questions asked reward for it. We can sue for the $40 and damages to the bike in small claims. (needs new bar tape and the brifters are really scratched up).The guy that pawned it was a Cary High student. Dumbass could have googled the "Dura-ace" on the crank and figured out it was worth a hell of a lot more than $40.
6/8/2010 10:01:50 PM
Wait, you paid for your bike back? They should have to give it to you.
6/9/2010 7:42:01 AM
^^ Are you going to go after the student who pawned it? Like legally, or just punch him in the fucking face?
6/9/2010 7:47:50 AM
she better go after the thief. This, "he's just a kid", "he made a bad choice", "I'll go easy on him since I got my property back" is a bunch of bullshit that is breeding criminals. Press charges against this ass and hope he gets punished to the full extent of the law. Let him go now, and he gains more confidence in committing a crime again.
6/9/2010 8:09:19 AM
+1.First time thieves should be sent to jail for a long time (I'm talking years, not months) and/or have their hands amputated.Second time offenders should be executed. Just sayin'...
6/9/2010 9:00:28 AM
^^^ Hell yes legally, and if anyone else was involved they will not be spared. We will take this as far as we can. I want to see the guy cry and beg for mercy. Honestly, we wouldn't have cared as much if the fucker took my car instead (the keys were on the table next to the bike) since I've been wanting to sell it anyway.
6/9/2010 9:08:26 AM
hahah $40. he probably just wanted enough to buy an 8th of shitty weed
6/9/2010 10:44:40 AM
or a quarter of really shitty weed
6/9/2010 10:52:16 AM
or a half oz of really shitty weed
6/9/2010 12:08:13 PM
I'm pretty sure you don't have to pay the pawn shop to recover your stolen property. They are supposed to be trained, they have computers, they can google things. Congrats on getting your bike back. Keep us updated as to what happens.
6/9/2010 1:46:58 PM
The police were there. We could have waited and not paid, but they claimed that they didn't have room for the bicycle in the back and we didn't want it getting further damaged. It was worth the $40 that we will get back to not have to sue the pawn shop as well for damages while it was in their possession. Plus, he wanted to go for a ride and renting a road bike is almost $40 a day.

you paid to get your own property back? I don't care if it's a pawn shop or some guy on the corner... selling stolen property is selling stolen property.
6/9/2010 10:51:34 PM
It's fucked up, yes. But leaving the bike at the pawn shop to get screwed with by a bunch of idiots was an unbearable thought. The kid lives in a nice house so I know his parents will be good for the money.
6/9/2010 10:54:04 PM
Move to chit chat?
6/10/2010 9:48:34 AM
^SecondGlad to hear you got it back. But yes, nail his ass to the wall for this.

Police are not doing a damn thing. Kid we were babysitting just turned 18. Time for TWW justice?
7/25/2010 11:54:38 PM
TWW is not your personal army
7/25/2010 11:55:07 PM
Yeah, you aren't exactly well liked enough for TWW justice.
7/25/2010 11:56:36 PM
Super job tww
7/25/2010 11:58:44 PM
No, but it has the potential to be hilarious. This chick made the cover of "the slammer" before her 18th birthday. Got her 3rd MIP for having a party the night we moved out.
7/25/2010 11:58:56 PM
I'm sure the police see it as a stolen cheap bike and don't know any different.
