Intro Statements

Burr: I'd never dreamed I'd be a Senator. You see, I'm the son of a Presbyterian Minister. When I was young I was focused on football. My mom has always been very proud of me. Terrorism. I've never forgot what Senator Helms told me the day I started you'll be judged on constituent services, not awards. It's not about the past. Change in Washington. Jobs, debt, terror. I need your vote, but I need more than that, I need your support & help. Its about the opportunity our children will inherit, will our children receive an unlimited opportunity? We owe it to our children to make common sense changes. Thank you.

Elaine: Good morning. Thanks everyone. Talking about her husband. Called herself a newbie to that forum. Recession, wars, leadership. There's one side saying no, and one side running scared, that's not leadership. There are people writing bills behind closed doors, that's not leadership. Standing up for the forgotten men & women, stand up for them instead of status quo/corporations. In my career I've stood up to special interests, passed some of the toughest/most transparent lobbying laws in NC, stood up to wall street etc. Jobs. Strong independent voice who will take the fight to Washington. Thank you.

Beitler: I'm a libertarian, and I'm the only fiscal conservative in this race. I'm disappointed in Burrs vote for TARP & supporting corporate welfare. He's accepted millions from corporate PACs. Burr spends time to create a constitutional ban on gay marriage... that's not conservative, that's intolerance. Burr is a crony corporatist. I'm a CPA. Jobs, jobs, jobs. The Iraq & Afghanistan must end, and the troops must be brought home immediately. I'm a CPA. Jobs. Become part of the solution, go to my website. Thank you.

Beitler can't go 2 sentences without calling Burr a corporatist, and Elaine is slamming him for his ties to big oil & being on committees that regulate that sort of thing & ties to wall street.

No one is doing so well as to say there is a winner yet. Both 2 of them, especially Beitler, are painting Burr really poorly. In particular Beitler & Elaine are both anti-war, and Burr not so much.

Last question - Arizona Law:

Beitler: I'm disturbed by the way we are looking at immigrants. My wife is from China. Immigrants come for opportunity not for welfare. We need to be that bright light on the hill that attracts people to the opportunities that we were all luckily enough to be born into.

Burr: Secure our borders. Illegals, whether they be from China (looks at Beitler) or Mexico, have to leave and apply to return legally.

Elaine: The federal government has let the states down. Need comprehensive reform. Secure borders, enforce existing laws, strengthen visa options.

Closing statements:

Marshall: There hasn't been enough time to delve into these issues fully. Check out my website. Jobs. Investments for the future. This election is about can we fix what is broken in Washington? Stand up for people, not corporations. Here in NC I've taken on those kinds of interests such as Wall Street, insurance companies that didn't want to cover mammograms, I've reformed NC's lobbying laws. I have the experience, history, and know how to fight these special interests.

Beitler: I represent a different choice. I don't blame Washington, I blame the voters. I'm a CPA. I oppose the special interest groups. I'll represent the tax payers. Go to my website. Thank you.

Burr: Thank you News 14 for caring enough to broadcast this forum. I like my 2 opponents. Vote for whoever best represents your views. This is an important election. Fiscal concerns, we don't want to be like "Greece, and Europe, and Japan, and the rest of them." I'm a dad. I will promise you that I'll do everything in my power to earn your trust. The answers don't come from us. I have 2 kids. Some things are more important than politics. The future is decided by how many people participate.

I believe Burr was the only of the 3 not to plug his website.
