Art has his head buried so far up Roy's ass that he probably hasn't seen daylight in 20 years.

Yep we are the wrong and irresponsible people for calling for equal dispensation of punishments. We had kids that gave away tickets and got bitch slapped. They faked fucking classes to make these idiots qualify, but WE are in the wrong. Got it.

They can keep their recent titles as long as they give us their Helms Banner for our 73 season

That white bench riding QB's blog entry was pretty entertaining to read

Until he pulled the "everyone else is doing it" card

It's amazing that he can throw the ball 215 yards. That's like a world record.

If there is any University in America that can handle this kind of hit to their "reputation", it is UNC. Bringing them down is like killing Terminator

Hmm, isn't this bad? Looks like UNC has managed to "destroy" Willingham's credibility.

i like how by arguing over this, everyone is ignoring her more damaging claims (unsigned grade changes, athletics steering athletes into paper-only courses, etc...)

I think my favorite part was this:

Quote :
"The findings, issued in a report made public Friday afternoon, said the experts “also determined that the majority of the students referenced in the public claims scored at or above college entry level on the (Scholastic Abilities Test for Adults) Reading Vocabulary subtest. The data set was based on those scores.”"

followed almost immediately by this:

Quote :
"[Dean] also said she had improperly used SAT and ACT scores to bolster her findings. Those tests aren’t typically used to determine literacy."

^^Those aren't even her claims! Those are facts. And I don't know if she's distracting from them or providing another opportunity to bring them up.

Oh .... I get it ... so ...

"The findings, issued in a report made public Friday afternoon, said the experts “also determined that the majority of the students referenced in the public claims scored at or above college entry level on the (Scholastic Abilities Test for Adults) Reading Vocabulary subtest. The data set was based on those scores.”"

Means we have a new leg to the investigation:

How can illiterate student athletes give reading SAT scores above the college entry level??

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-04-14/university-of-north-carolina-presses-attack-on-whistle-blower-in-fake-classes-for-athletes-scandal#r=most popular

The press does not like when people attack informants and sources and will make you look bad.

That said I do think it's fair to question Willingham since she does seem to be grandstanding for herself a little bit. I don't think you get the full whistleblower credit if you come out after all this stuff has already hit the fan, it's not like she wasn't working there for almost 10 years before going to the press.

I think people are getting lost while arguing over MW's research and findings. It doesn't matter how many illiterate athletes were out there, it just matters that there were some and that they were getting funneled into "fake" classes and handed grades to keep them eligible. End of story, take down banners.

Re: willingham's credibility. She said she tried for over a year to get this handled internally and she was completely ignored. She had emails to back that up. Eventually she had enough and went public because she got tired of being the only person disgusted at how the sausage was made

^^Oh yeah agree there 100%. Just don't like making a martyr out of an opportunist. Her tactics don't absolve Carolina. I'd just rather hold up somebody like Jay Smith as opposed to her.

^She might have tried for over a year but to the best of my understanding that was AFTER the NCAA was already there and AFTER she had been working there since circa 2003-2004. Still pulling for her to make them pay, just think it is fair to ask questions about her motivations.

Quote :
"Typically, government photos of employees, past or present, are public record. The News & Observer and other news organizations receive them routinely from state and local agencies upon request.

But UNC would not share its photo of retiree Deborah Crowder. Officials there claimed it was a personnel record, calling it her “official employee identification photo.”

State law identifies personnel records as those related to an employee’s “application, selection, promotion, demotion, transfer, leave, salary, contract for employment, benefits, suspension, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination.” It also says that information in a personnel file such as “home address, social security number, medical history, personal financial data, marital status, dependents, and beneficiaries” are private.

What a public employee looks like doesn’t fit any of those categories, but UNC officials still would not release the photo."

Will never get tired of reading their fan comments at the ends of these articles. You have to think that every time one of these comes out, and they see things like "...since the 'SCANDAL' broke" in print... it is like reading that their beloved 80-yr old grandad, 'Paw paw' committed a rape in the 70s that has just been discovered.

"We don't believe it, we love you paw paw!" "He could never do such a thing"

The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has invited Mary Willingham and Mark Emmert to testify at a hearing that will focus on the welfare of NCAA athletes.

Every NCSU fan that has been laughed at for saying there is a UNC bias in the media or NCAA is vindicated, and that might be all we get out of this mess.

"The NCAA has not investigated UNC for the academic fraud, and is instead deciding what role (if any) they will have in these matters in the future"

Such complete bullshit.
