I started doing it when I first went off to college, because Dad didn't like the Internet, so back at home we had no Internet access.

Also consider that content often gets pulled for a variety of reasons; I actually use stream rippers for some stuff because it's so fleeting I can't rely on being able to go to the same website later to get that content.
