^ i'm in a similar boat. i was carrying 55 potions of minor healing which of course add up. i unloaded about 30 of them but when you start adding up all the other healing potions, misc potions it gets ridiculous lol. and the soul gems, let's not go there haha

i dont pick up any potions unless they're health potions

and i hardly ever eat food either, when i can kill a dragon with like 5-10 slashes with my axe while shield bashing in between to stun him, its too easy...but i prefer it being too easy

i really dont see much point in ever eating food.

also, is there a way i can have the chests in my houst ordered?

it's like, 90% of it is alphabetized, but before and after the A-Z it's a huge clusterfuck of items. pretty irritating.

also irritating how in a chest it's not categorized... that'd help a lot too. look i'm only looking for ingots, dont show me 400 different potions or some shit.

Once I activated the standing stone of the mule or whatever it is that adds 200 to your capacity... I never looked back. Also I only upgraded stamina throughout the game. Can always add enchanted items that increase capacity also, but still close to over-encumbered because of quest items I have no idea what to do with. Doesn't help when the quest glitches and you have someone's 20 pound sword you can't drop.

^^^i think we're SOL on consoles as far as organizing stuff in chests

in Whiterun I put all my potions and scrolls in the chest on top of the dresser in the alchemy room...and put all my ingredients in the apothecary satchel...then put all my dragon bones / leather / ingots / etc in the chest upstairs...all my weapon racks in my 3 houses are also full of weapons

anybody know if you can put a shield above your bed in Whiterun? buying all the house upgrades gives you a shield and two swords up there but I don't think you can put more than one weapon up there if you remove the standard iron swords and shield

i didnt even realize there's another chest in the alchemy room

i have all the ingredients in the alchemy satchel, but everything else is upstairs.

breezehome is the only house i've bought yet.

there are either 2 or 3 weapon racks on the right as you come in the front door as well a weapon plaque straight ahead of you when you turn right after going upstairs...and also the plaque above the bed i mentioned

since the Solitude house is a fucking mansion and has a safe in the bedroom, i put all my dragon claws inside it and some other jewels...then i'd get to the end of a dungeon and realize i needed to have a particular claw on me

I hit level 81 last night

Awesome part is I have my save game prior to assigning all the perks, so I have a level 81 save game with 25 perks. So I can go back and almost play through another character class without restarting the game

i'm one of those "its never a bad time to save" people who saves a new game multiple times in one dungeon just in case i run into some serious shit...works well for the occasional times i die...but if i wanted to go back to a previous save i could never find it, i have like 450 saves, 99% of them on my main character

Dang...when I re-rolled, I decided to stay at "Level 1" until whenever. I'm also deciding to use magic way more than before, and I've set the difficulty at Expert.

And I haven't gone to Dragonsreach to start the main quest.

I've died waaaay too many times, and I've had to exit some caves (and quests) until I'm beefier. I'm going to try going in using a follower.

^ I set the difficulty to Master sometime around level 25. The game is still hilariously easy. Once you max out smithing/enchanting/alchemy, every character is a tank.

^^i didn't, i didn't want to jump levels just by spamming iron daggers. i got up to 60 so i could improve enchanted items, and thats about it. i just don't collect ingots or leather (with the exception of ebony, i usually pick those up if i see them)

if that helps the game more of a challenge for you or anyone else, do what you like...i wanted to get up to Daedric so i could be an unarmed badass but if I were going with a different style character I'd probably focus on different stuff

kinda sucks you don't get any type of level boost for turning ore to ingots or making leather or leather strips...its not a huge deal, but it seems like if you did it enough you should get something aside from smithing materials

I just loaded this back up today after a month or two and it's pretty much the same effect as being a casual WoW player. I just seem to get bored and lose interest.

Level 28 w/ Deadric Weapons/Armor currently at Epic. switched the game to Expert but was still kind of bored. I guess I'd have to play it for some more hours to get back into it. I dunno.

Out of all the best games of last year this is the ONLY game that I did not purchase. Its a good game for sure, and I will eventually get it, but I found out about 2 years ago that I like games that can be finished in about 30-50 hours on first playthrough and about 10-15 hours on all subsquent (and rushed in 5-6 hours); reason being is that I like to play different classes with different setups with weponary, armor, etc. and I don't want to have to take 20 hours just to get a certain item, join a certain guild, etc. I think this is a little exagerated, but it keeps from me from getting bored with the game if I can just fly through it and start a new playthrough without dreading playing many hours just to get a few items or somethig like that. A few games come to mind when I think of this - Any Fallout (1,2,3, or NV), Borderlands, Resident Evil 4 and 5, and Dark Souls. Basically I like that games that don't hold me back and I can play though it about as fast as I can move my character.

i figure the playthrough time is very similar to FO:3 and FO:NV (i didnt play 1 or 2)

just depends on if you want to stick to the main quest or do every little tiny pointless sidequest or not

I'll give a try sooner or later, but all indications let me to belive a much longer game that either FO 3 or NV.

maybe so, but for me, there are games you can pick up and play for 20-30 minutes, like Madden or Tiger Woods or Call of Duty, and then there are games that you could play for multiple hours at a time, like Skyrim or FO3...when the game hours required to beat a game are so high, I don't think theres a huge difference...its like driving to Denver versus driving to LA...its a long fucking drive either way

I'm gonna report Steam Valve to the BBB.

Skyrim won't launch and they have no 24 hour tech support phone line??

If you're going force me to use your invasive, horribly built software to enjoy a product which I FUCKING own, it is your responsibility to SUPPORT the goddamn thing.

---

edit: After doing some googling which is absolutely not my responsibility to waste time doing, the solution was to go into the steam program directory and delete this file: ClientRegistry.blob. Then, restart in Online mode and it will do some updating (without asking), and then the game will launch. Thought I'd save trouble for anyone else experiencing this error.

does anyone know if a mod exists that lists every quest (main or side) in the entire game and allows you to see the progress of each one?

i've tried googling but found nothing really except other people asking the same question on other boards. the idea is i want to complete every possible quest with my character to get the most out of the game. i've found so many other quests this playthrough compared to my first play and i dont wanna miss anything.

some of the sidequests are radiant, ie I might have to find a book for some guy in one dungeon, on your game it maybe in a different dungeon...but otherwise this is all of them http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Quests

looks like there are about 436 total

I've been pretty much avoiding all the Steam hate people seem to have, but I just ran into my own area that is just grinding on me.

In the last week, has anyone else been getting that "Steam is synchronizing with the Cloud" BS when you shut down your computer? Even 10 minutes after I exit Skyrim, when I shutdown the computer, I get that message. It even completely stops my shutdown sequence, as opposed to the usual system of completing its work and then continuing with shutdown.

^ Fus-Ro-Dah him behind the table as he starts getting up from the chair. he won't be able to hit you unless you get in melee range. really makes the fight cheesy but i had no chance beating him straight up. he dual wields a legendary sword and axe like a boss

^^ he was the hardest character i've faced in the game...mostly i'd just summon a flame atronach from behind the doorway and after he hit her once, i'd go in and FRD him, then fireball (with impact) him until he died

sounds easier than it was...i died so many times

I stumbled upon that dungeon before I had any dragon shouts, and that was definitely one of the hardest fights in the entire game.

I ended up pulling him by shooting arrows at him from the hallway (so as to not pull his sidekicks). However, you do have to first make sure you kill the draugr that are upstairs of the room behind the hallway, because they will aggro on you as well if the boss comes near them.

I ended up having to use the mass resurrection stone power and get lucky before I ever downed him. One time he killed Lydia before I got him and I almost said 'fuck it' and went on without her...but I reloaded

yeah i tried that asshole for like an hour then gave up and left that quest

i should finish him off sometime

i found he wont leave that room however. there's a sweet spot that you can sneak into the hallway leading up to him and fire off an arrow (with sneak bonus) and bust ass back up the hallway and hide behind the bookshelf and he wont follow you... your sneak meter thinger will show hidden eventually... just rinse and repeat.

but i got frustrated and quit.

it's irritating to find the right spot... just close enough that the hit registers, but not close enough that his dragur buddy realizes youre there

___

started the thieves guild questline. i really wish ps3 had a quicksave.

He doesn't scale all the way up apparently because when I faced him at 45 he went down quick.

Also, I'm planning on downloading the Creation Kit and making a new village/bunch of questlines or something.
