it?

C'mon guys, we're nearly in our 30's now. Why all the hatin'. I remember when the Gayrage was a happening place, threads bumpin all day long. garage meets.

Let's see some more interesting shit besides the normal banter of 993's, M3's, evo's, Sti's

I want more motor swaps/build threads/cool car finds/etc. for 2011. more diesel. more corvette's with drag radials. more 4x4 builds. more of anything to break up the norm.

Alright you gayragin' fools - let's do this thang.

i am an XYZ certified shade tree mechanic. I charge 70/hr. I am too good to answer questions, and will make fun of anyone who asks. I drive a beamer/landrover/porche. I am... the new garage.

993's are hot for sure, but most of the Porsche talk in here is about the 996

I'm all about track related stuff, but it's only so often that I can afford to do them

I too agree and sorry to be a jerk but i read auto blog and jalopnik daily and don't need to see cross posts from them here.

I want someone to get a tarus sho and tell me how it goes or something with the ecoboost 6 in it.

Yeah I want a project car but I want a house and a big garage first.

Honestly though I wouldn't post the build thread here.

and my next major The Garage ™ production is scheduled for early 2011, where adam8778 builds a 30x50 shop, sells his house, and lives in the garage apartment! Stay tuned for that one.

I'm in the midst of a 1973 cb175 project. Granted, it's going to make about as much power as my left nut when it's all said and done, so no one here would really give a shit. I'd make a thread if I thought people would be interested, but it's more a simple clean/budget-minded restoration than some wild turbo project.

I remember back in the day when we used to have pretty technical engineering discussions on here...then after that, at least there some sick/crazy projects.

I'm doing what I can to keep cool shit (old BMW airhead, Z06 vette, hotrod waverunner, and '66 chevy pickup restoration), but I need your help. Ivan, Ahmet, and I can't do it alone. You offroaders need to build some more buggies and SAS your bitch-made IFS trucks. The rest of you need to sell your subarus and 240sx's and stuff and start doing LSx swaps into Seven kit cars, or having maxima driver rig up some turbo plumbing through your air conditioning ducts.

its because modifying cars is largely some bullshit and a waste of time and we're old enough now to know it and buy at the appropriate starting point. most of us are smart enough to have jobs where we make more in an hour than we'd pay per hour for someone to do our lame mods or what have you. it might just be me but if im gonna spend my time engineering something, it's going to be brand new, not some johnny come lately been there done that garbage. i suppose i participate in this exercise in making my motorcycle more ergonomic, lighter, handle better but that's because i'm left with little choice as you can't buy "cup bikes" too readily and im too fat for stock jap suspension.

there's no hate, but fuck if im gonna meet up/talk about/work on something, there better be some sort of competition involved.

I don't want to say I don't have the time, but the little bit of time I do have I'd rather chill out or travel. Keeping up with maintenance alone gives me plenty of wrench time.

I also prefer to buy OEM performance vehicles, not some rigged up shit that has boost/vacuum leaks, unoptimized suspension damping and what not.

building engines is fun. Taking dirty blowed up ones out is not so fun. I am looking for something busted to buy but every car with an ls powerplant is $$$.

I want to redu the cold side plumbing on my car. Somehow I have had no boost leaks in over a year at 17lbs. Ray, can you believe that hahahaha. You got a welder yet??

duke - right on. if adam8778 can keep up with the pics and the posting, his truggy build will be fun to read.

I know the CRF boys have some cool shit that's postworthy too.

TKE, swapping a compressor and vacuum/recharging is very easy and cheap, don't gut it, you'll thank me in the summer! Oh, and I'd be willing to help pull it out if you still want to, you know weight savings and all...

I am still working on my 240. It's nothing special but I've done all the work myself. I tell my friends who care to know. Right now the shitty winter has kept ^me from messing on it. I like having it though because it prevents ^me from wasting my money on other projects.

Is that an offer to help replace it? I've never done a lick of work on an AC system. Also I was under the impression that an AC compressor costs $400 or so.

I wouldn't imagine it'd be hard, txt me on Monday if you want me to check the price, but I've swapped in used A/C compressors w/great luck in the past (and often the compressor is good and there's a leak in the system that causes it to not engage).

I did the dude who I had build the engine was an idiot and built it with a crack in the block around the crank shaft and tried to permatex it up to cover it up. Ragged helped ^me on it after the fact which I am grateful for. But it wasn't worth fixing so I unloaded it. After that lesson I started doing everything myself

I do AC shit in my sleep. LOL. Yeah, Duke means me. I charged his AC on his truck.

I gotta agree with Ahmet...I've had really good luck with used AC compressors, and sometimes you can find them for CHEAP. The Integras usually use Nippondenso 10PA15C compressors, which are pretty rock solid. Did a retrofit on an '89 Celica GT using a used compressor off of a '96, and it turned out beautifully.
