We should to be able to bump older topics in study hall. For the most part there isn't really a reason that i can think of for allowing posts to expire in that section. Just creates more duplicate threads and eliminates people's desire to search in that section.

Look at how many HI252 and ANT252 threads there are. Sure some of the information/professors are outdated, but most of these are complete duplicates

Personally, I like starting new threads as opposed to continuing old threads. Users should certainly search if they're asking questions that may have already been answered. Nevertheless, I don't like clicking on a thread, seeing an ancient discussion, and then finding that a new and tangentially related discussion begins on page 5. In the less common cases where there will be a real benefit to bumping dated threads, it's not really a big deal to PM a Moderator to have the thread bumped.

Site3 has it. this is standard operating procedure for modern webapps.
