I'm really failing to see the point you are trying to make here

and while the roster page on their website doesn't list ages, I'm willing to bet there are a few players on the team that are older than 18-21, with the mission work they all do there

Yeah I don't get that reference at all.

I agree that he agreed to their code and to take their scholarship...gotta live by their rules.

Now the rules I think are fucking moronic, but that's just my personal opinion.

IMO there's some significant psychological harm from the coercion and indoctrination of thinking that your human nature is inherently wrong, but that's a different thread.

You can't have sex before you're married. Oh, but you can marry like 20 women, so it evens out. Welcome to BYU.

Then don't violate the code you voluntarily swore to follow. That's like saying you're being harmed by negative media attention if you're arrested for burglary.

Some of you are just plain ignorant. If you don't understand it, well it's just stupid

The whole coffee/tea/caffeine/alcohol/tobacco thing is pretty simple: it's not good for the body, so you shouldn't partake of it. And that's nothing new either geniuses, any health professional will tell you that.

The real world girl got kicked out because on real world, you had coed living arrangements, that is also against the honor code at BYU.

I agree that BYU is pretty strict and I don't agree with the level of strictness, but I do understand why the honor code is the way it is. It wasn't for me, so I didn't go. Had I chosen to, I would have had to accept and abide by the rules. It's not rocket science folks.

By not including junk food or excessive internet usage on their list of vices, they're unintentionally pushing their student body to be obese troglodytes with limited social interaction.

Kudos.

^They've also got church attendance as a part of the honor code, so that will increase social interaction.

^^^I would have never gone for the no beard policy. Four years of never being able to be lazy and just growing a beard. Also, I believe at the time they had, or there were rumors that they had a no shorts policy. I can understand the no 80's style shorts, but normal shorts? It gets hot in the summer - even in Utah.

Edit:
Looked it up. No beards unless for medical or religious reasons. I'd have to convert to Nazarene for a while. Knee length shorts allowed.

Naw yo. Green tea has antioxidants and has benefits to the body. So it's a little more complex than being pretty simple.

Yeah, each of the things you've listed aren't objectively bad for you in moderate quantities. Just like everything else. Dogmatic rules about what you can and can't eat/fuck/whatever are stupid unequivocally. Don't try to act like they're based on anything resembling sense.

yeah, there's never been anything good for the body about any of those beverages:

Whether or not someone understands Mormonism does not change the fact the it's completely and utterly stupid. It was founded by a man who claimed people live on the moon.

Yes moderate quantities in and of itself are not that harmful, but clearly, some people have difficulty staying within those moderate quantities, so some would argue it is best to refrain from them period. I do agree green tea and some of the other herbal teas are an exception.

And if you understand it, or take some time to learn about it, it's still stupid. Joseph Smith was insane. Among other crazy beliefs, he thought (or at least he claimed) that Native Americans were parts of the Lost Tribes of Israel.

So what do people eat and drink at these basketball games? When you go to the RBC Center there are plenty of sweet things to eat and drink. Soda and pop corn just go together.

Chocolate has caffeine in it, so I guess they don't sell M&M's, snickers bars, or Good Berries cookies n creme at the games.

well, that's exactly what like 95% of tww does when someone, God forbid, mentions that they are a Christian or have Christian beliefs too. Mormons aren't exempt on tdub!

do they monitor student internet usage? The internet is bad for you.

you are right.

I forgot that this was sports talk and not chit chat

No matter how you spin it, the dude knew what the rules were, broke them and then got caught.

I think that ESPN and the media is glorifying BYU's actions in response to the OSU shit that went down with selling jerseys.
